Default "Boomerang" Armrest

For those of you that have one in your Box, do you like it? What are the positives and the negatives about it? I want one but I'm unsure at this time only because I have a manual trans and I think it might get in the way. Any info would greatly be helpful...

Hi Emilio. I have the Boomerang in my xB and it's also a standard. It does not get in the way at all. It's very sturdy....I braced myself on it one day to get something out of the glove compartment. I thought it would brake, but no it didn't. I love the storage for my CDs.

I got the regular armrest from McGeorge. It's more basic, but cheaper (under $80, shipped), and works just fine for me. No fancy storage bins or anything like that, though.

I have one also, with the automatic. My wife loves it, HOGS it!! I like it most for the cd storage, BUT, since I got XM radio, I don't play as many CD's anymore! LOL.
I also find it sturdy, but I had to modify the installation by trimming the shim pads they provide. No big deal.

Ahhh, maybe I should try this....did your shims get in the way of one of the bolts and the e-brake?

I have the Boomerang in my xA, and the OEM rest from McGeorge in my wife's xB. They are both good rests. I like the Boomerang's storage and it mounts pretty solid. The only "play" I notice with it, seems to be more in the lid shifting slightly from side to side. The base is very solid. If you go with the Boomerang, I highly recommend spending a little extra and get the leather top. It looks 1000 times nicer than the black rubber top it comes standard with. The rubber will start getting a chalky white look to it. The leather looks awesome.
The OEM rest in our xB is a great rest too. It is totally rock-solid, looks factory, and was alot cheaper. It also has a rear cupholder to replace the one it takes up which is nice. There is plenty of room for the extra cupholder in the xB, but if I put the OEM rest in my xA, that cupholder might get in the way for the backseat passengers.
Either one would be a good way to go, but when you factor in the price and the extra cupholder, I'd say get the OEM for a xB. It's nothing fancy, but it does it's job quite well.

Box 916, yes, that was the problem. I simply cut about 1/4 inch off the bottom of both shims and pulled them as far rearward as possible. I have been happy so far.
As to the chalky appearance, yes it does, but a little armorall fixes it for another 4 or 5 weeks.

Like I said earlier, when you get tired of the chalky rubber, spend a little more and get the leather top for it. You'll love it. I'm glad I did it. I still have the old rubber top if anyone needs a spare.
