Buying a used Scion xB from the dealership (minnesota)
okay well the dealer wants $12,995. the xb has 47k miles and it's black with some aftermarket scion rims, which looks way nicer! after taxes and whatever, what should the final price come down to? minnesota tax is .065 percent. i dont know how much title and everything is. i still have to find out how good my credit is and all that apr crap. im excited but worried. first time buyer! i figure it shouldn't be more than 2 grand. im looking to finance for 48-60 months. maybe it'll be under 300 a month lol. okay, im worried just typing this. i have a big decision to make! nervous. ugh
also, would you guys buy a dinged up scion if the dealer was willing to do a paintless dent repair? it would look like it came new lol....jw, not that this xb was dingd up lol
thanks,
YAJ

Hmmm that is full retail value according to NADA for a 2006 xB with 47,000 miles. the retail drops to near 11,000 for a 2004. May or may not be an OK deal, but based on NADA's averages I would say it is not a great deal unless they come off a thou or more. I am betting tag, fees, taxes etc shouldn't be more than about $1000. Make sure they dealer is not charging you many internal fees...at 12,995 they already have a good profit margin according to NADA'S values and if they don't it is their own fault for paying to much in trade to get the xB. I would be trying to take it out the door tags fees taxes etc all included for a total of 12,995 or less.
You will not get your payment under $300 a month (even on a 60month term....which I would not reccommend on a car....especially one with 47K miles on it already) unless you get an extremely low interest rate or put some money down on the 12,995 +tax, fees, etc purchase. here is a link to a basic car payment calculator http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/Cal...FQKfnAodNBxXVg
Good luck .

Being a first time buyer, I would highly recommend you try and get financed outside of the dealership. You may find that you can get a better APR and length of your finance term from a credit union or bank (especially a bank you already do business with). In fact, they may have auto loans for first time buyers like yourself.
I also recommend getting your credit score before you head into any negotiations with a dealership. Knowing what your score is (or as close an estimate as possible) can save you thousands in the long run. If and when a dealership runs your credit, demand to see the results on paper because they are notorious for telling buyers they are lower than their score really is.
Based on what you say your state sales tax is, the total tax on the xB they're selling you is $845.00. You can check with your local DMV to see what the license costs will be.
Best of luck with your purchase :D

What year is it? Doesn't seem like that's a fair price if the only option is the rims, originally the rim upgrade was about $600, and wasn't the price of a stock one new in the high $14000's? Guess it just depends on how bad you want it, but just remember they're not that fast, you're buying looks/fuel economy.

it's a 2006. black on black. no rust. very clean. tires are basically new. and yes, this is for my wife. so it's for looks, room, and fuel economy. im already sick of paying for premium. this should be great on gas i assume, since everyone who has an xB says so. well i guess ill go in sometime today or monday to go to the dealership to see what apr ill be getting. if it's high, im out to my bank.
btw, does anyone know how apr works? is it tagged on yearly or on monthly payments?

chances are the dealer didn't pay more then 9k for it.
i friend of mine had a 05 with 35k on it and more than 12k worth of stuff put into it and the dealer offered him 8k.
he said hells no and they can back with 11k.
what your talking about is mostly stock.
id offer them 11.5 out the door and be firm about it and see what happens.
ive wondered about the APR thing too.

Personally, I would get my own financing and go private party. I bought my xB on Ebay. I flew from GA to Missouri and drove it back, all told for $3000 less than a dealer was asking for a similar xB. (That included the plane ticket and expenses).
You could use Autotrader.com too.

I'd offer 12k out the door. If they don't go for it get down to chicago and get one of them 8-9 k boxes but arrange your financing before you go hunting down there.
