Did the new grade 8 bolts, same springs, double nuts, reused the doughnut gasket. All good.

Ready to race Mustangs now!

since i'm having trouble locating the exact location, what is the part number/bolt type you used instead of the stock ones? and why double nuts?

Guys I'm trying to figure out what header you all are using (I'm on a xA not a xB but it should be the same) I found this one, it;s 50 bucks shipped, any thoughts?

That appears to be the polished version of the coated one we used.

Hi,

Reviving this thread after all this time.... Ordered my header for my 2005 box... Just hit 65000 miles recently, so I figure I have several years of service left, and with gas prices shooting back up....

I ordered a replacement donut gasket from OReilly.com auto parts, ROL #EG24337 for $21 with shipping...and the Dorman Exhaust Collector Bolts off Ebay.com for under $10.00; I scanned the UPC shown in the early pics on this thread to track down the bolts...

This thread and others are still helping folks out years later....

Default New Donut

Hi,

Great thread !! Still lives on !

I got my new donut today along with the new header... The donut is like the exact same inner diameter as the header outlet's outer diameter... Should the donut be so tight that it needs to be installed with a rubber mallet ?

Plan B is to either widen the donut a touch or emory cloth the header pipe.... I think opening the donut a smidgen makes more sense at this point... Thoughts ??

Thread Revival !!

Installed my stainless header today... Did it alone so it took longer...

I used those Dorman 03143 bolt kits, tho I reused the oem springs so
they fit the exhaust flange cleaner. I had to use some vaseline type grease
to hold the tab-nuts while I fed the exhaust bolt into the hole and engaged
a few threads on the nut... I did notice that the Dorman bolt thickness after
the threads would not go thru the header collector bolt hole... Hope that is not a problem as I think I have a slight leak in the donut area... The bolts tightened up, but not sure if its really tight or the bolt shoulder hitting the header flange....
Gonna let it go for now... Too sweaty... Recheck in a few days....
