So I guess unfortunately I get to add my two-bits to the cacophony of broken windshields....

Samething. I awoke yesterday morning to a crack in the upper passenger side of the windshield. No impact star. Just a crack in the glass from the top down.....

So I'm bringing it in tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Mine started also from the passenger side, but it came from UNDER the seam all the way on the right side. It was cracking from right to left, not top to bottom. They always do that retarded pen test. All the pens will catch on is the split glass or shards........ Hopefully your dealer wont fight with you on it. Mine didnt, yet i dont even want this glass. But i will give them a chance to fix the problem.

Just to add to some confusion. I need to replace my OEM windshield which has lasted 4+ years and am trying to find the most dependable windshield with a tint strip at the top and preferably with integrated solar tint to block the infrared heat. Similar to this product that noone seems to have or even know that it exists. Anyone familiar with PPG sungate? http://corporateportal.ppg.com/NA/OE...ld/sungate.htm

Also, the opinion of the local glass installer was that Fuyao was "crap" and he actually said he would not install it! He selected Pinkleton with solar strip for me.

What do you think? Anyone with any current 2009 experiences with Fuyao or the other windshields? I would love to be able to get the IR sunblocking windshield but noone has heard of sungate. In spite of the installer's opinion, my second choice right now is Fuyao if it has the tint strip on the top.

I know this post is old, but heres my thing. I have an 06 xB and my windshield literally saved my life today. Never had a crack chip etc. on it until now. I have had rocks, birds and everything slam into it. Today I was on a freeway and was following a Ford F250 in the other lane and either a part flew off his P.O.S. or he hit something in the road. I saw the oblect fly through the air. I thought it was a bird and SLAM! It hit so hard that it threw my garage door opener on my sunvisor and my sirius radio in the back seat! The windshield needless to say is a total spiderweb. It is almost caved in where the object hit. After getting his tag # just in case it was something out of his truck, I went back to get my prize. It is a piece of metal about the weight and size of a baseball! My friend belives it is a piece off a parking brake. Not sure! There is actually rust embedded in the glass from where it hit. At first I was P*ss#d but after looking at the offending object and the windshield. I laughed about it. I was doing 75 MPH when it hit. I truely belive the windshield in my Scion totally saved me. It hit exactly right where it would of hit me in the face. I truely belive that if there was a problem with the windshield in my xB I would be dead! Maybe tomorrow I will post pics of the windshield and the object and let you guys be the judge before the insurance adjustor gets here!

Oh guy forgot to mention I am sorry to any of you who ARE having probs. with Toyota glass. After my accident I remember reading about windshield probs on the xB. I then decided to post my experience with it which to me was good. Not sure what I'll be replacing it with though?

Wow, no wonder dealers don't $ell many windshields. Average replacement windshields run around 300 bucks.
