Watch out for those big 18 wheelers. I was driving my xb to mammoth once and got stuck behind a truck because the lanes merged. A pebble from the truck hit my windshield and now there's a crack! ahhhhhhh! ohh... and pack light. Those inclines are a pain in the butt.

Yeah I am runnin stocks too! I enjoy all the xtra rubber for that bit of added smoothness. lol!

Picked up a Garmin c340 GPS other day at costco. Figured it would aid nicely in the trip without the hassle of all the maps!

Use it to check out your odometer accuracy. Mine is off by 4.3%.....
A gps is very accurate so after a few hundred miles you can get a real error amount.

I will be driving from Seattle WA down to San Clemente CA in July, what should I do to protect my xB from getting the front end all shredded from rocks and bugs? I will be caravaning with another driver. Anyone help? Thanks

Thanks K,
I will be moving to the area, do you meet with others in the SC area? I am part of a group up here, but I need to start meeting others and finding out where the SCal drivers meet. Thanks for the blue tape idea!

The XB should give at least 4.5 to 5 hours on the road at highway speed between gas stations. You have got to eat, go to the restroom, and stretch at some time!

I drove from SW iowa to Yuma Arizona for spring break...took about 2 1/2 days. I thought the ride was great...and far from slow...but then again I had my handy radar detector so i sped like a monster. A fully loaded ipod is a must.

oh and i realized that that ledge to the left of the steering wheel makes a GREAT foot rest if you need to stretch your legs/reposition.

im going to drive my xb from cali to chicago in june, it sure will be interesting with a fabulous kit, airrunner air supspension, and deep dish dh's... ill let everyone know how it turns out. i predict a repaint of my front end will be nessicary shortly after the trip but im keeping my fingers crossed for sunny skies and clean roads.
