The FailBox thread: 2/27/2011, a day that will live in infamy

There's one thing missing from these pics. That would be beer.(after all, the great ideas come when drunk.) So while cool, I would have to say that, over all, this is FAIL.
(Still really cool tho.)

So yeah... after checking the brake pads to make sure they were seated right, I went a little further into the car... the air filter either always gets flooded when it rains (which, I know, NEVER happens in Florida) or when I turn the tire hits it... easy fix
Step 1. pull the K&N CAI from car
Step 2. Precisely measure and cut intake tube, which in my head meant just grab the grinder
Step 3. de-bur the little shards of Aluminum that are still on the intake and smooth out the cut
Step 4. hit the cut tube with a coat of paint... know I know your asking yourself "Why would you do that, its aluminum and wont rust" Lets keep in mind this is the fail box and well... strange things happen!
Right now the paint is drying then Ill have a finished pic in a moment...

Step 5. Place filter on intake and intake back into car
Step 6. reconnect the MAF sensor
Step 7, reattach front bumper
Finally realize that your done playing for the car for the day the only way imaginable

That front bumper has a history... it was apart of an RS2 that was done by Scion of Des Moines called the juice box, but it was the Midwest equivalent of my fail box... from there the front bumper was replaced by a fab kit and the front bumper sat in their storage room for a little while. Alex (grizlychoppers) got the bumper from Jason (hatenfate) and ran it on his RS1 for a while, before throwing it into his garage for 3 years. Last year when me and Jason were coming back from the ICIX meet at ED in newton I had a road gator attack the xB and destroy the front bumper... Jason called alex and within a couple days I had this on my car (and I still owe alex a beer for it). The plate on it has been there since 2005 and has never been taken off... hell I washed the bumper for the first time, ever, in march
so there you have it, that is the story of the front bumper
This was it at first
And this is what it became
I had to promise Jason and Alex that the bumper would never change colors and that the license plate would never come off

oh and you need to Harlequin that biznitch, I've always liked the harlequin golfs and think it would look amazing on your box. I would do it but I dont have the testicular fortitude to do it.

There's a minute chance that I'll get slapped down by the mods (Hi, Burst!*wave*) for this response. Whether I do or don't, do us all a favor, be a nice little n00b, and sit in that corner over there for a while. Y'all might learn something.

^^ the only thing I have to add to that is, SL has seen a drastic reduction in the number of daily posts from a lot of people, Don is keeping this section of the site alive with this trials and tribulations. Keep it up oh great leader of ours!
