if it's over 3 years old or 36k miles you will have to pay for an entire new gas tank plus install... the rapeage awaits.

Has anyone tried getting the TSB done past the 3yr 36k warranty?

I got my xB in Sept 03, but I'm still under 36k...

I'm thinking this is covered under the Emissions warranty which should be 5Yr./56K miles or longer.

Just found your post. I have the same problem with my '05 XA. I'm at 36k miles and out of warranty. Guess I'll try the upside down trick. Not inserting all the way and low setting doesn't seem to work for me.

Hey I just got my 04 xB recently and have the same problem. It's pretty annoying but another good trick you can use is to hold the pump with one hand (kind of elevated), and pull the sheath part back with your other hand to release the pressure into the atmosphere.

Same trick used when filling up small gas containers. But be careful as this method also usually prevents the auto fill shut off. So just watch it and go slow when you're around 10 gallons. I'll give the upside down thing a shot too and see if it helps.

My Scion came off the production line with the "new" tank, according to the TSB and I have this fuel problem. I tried the upside down, and 45 degree angle and I can eeek 3 gallons into it in about 8 minutes AND get fuel all over my car and the ground. Scion says I am SOL since I am over the 36 month warranty and this is only a TSB, not a recall. I am told that all I can do is get (another?) modified line and tank for $1000 and cross my fingers.
