The XB's don't have a frame, they are unibody, looking at the pics your right quarter might be repaired, depending how much of the dent comes out once they do the pulls, also you could have some right rear rail damage (the tailgate is no good , time for a CF one!!!
The shop has no say on how the Ins Co. will write to repair your vehicle, I don't think that you might have any recycled parts been that the car is so new, the same for aftermaket. State Farm, that I know does not use aftermarket parts (at least in FL), they could use recycled, which would be a part of same year make & model, which would be considered an OEM part.

Sorry to hear about your accident, and I'm glad you are both okay. Any idea when you'll be making it over to this side of the Atlantic?

That sucks! Good luck getting it repaired. Maybe in Florida you guys have a better turn around. Spare parts are hard to come by up here and it takes forever to get anything from the dealers.

Glad to hear you all are okay.

I have a question though-
If you get hit and your car is totaled, but you've added a lot of accesories and aftermarket stuff does insurance pay for that too or would you have to fil a lawsuit against the person who caused the accident?

Here is what I know: If you have added a LOT of stuff to your car, take pictures, keep receipts, and also inform your insurance company. Maybe they will want to see the car, or at least proof of your mods.

And, your rate may go up.

Now, if you have not done any of those things, you may be SOL if/when you get smashed and it's not your fault. And then, you might have to file a suit against the person who did the damage. But, without any pics, receipts, and the like, you may again, be SOL.

I know I called my insurance company when I got my sunroof put in.

whoosh. all these rear end accidents tend to involve the darker colors. Still waiting to see report here at SL of a Polar or a yellow xB getting tailcrunch action

-am gonna for sure for sure stick a disk on my wiper motor stub and activate it to wag when the brake light goes on.
Motion! wag a shape, a color, a US flag of sign plastic... wave/wag anything at these boneheads, 'cause -light alone- does not always register.

dang. sorry to see crunched cars!

to do: put the item on your wiper shaft. get a 12v relay SPST relay from auto parts store or Radio Shack. A small-capacity/duty relay is fine. Put this inside the hatch, and wire it this way: wiper motor hot wire goes to the Normally OPen pair of connections. The relay coil gets hooked in paralel to the brake light. PUT the rear wiper motor switch ON for normal action. The wiper motor now wags your sign when you brake and shuts off when you don't brake.

To kill the action you'd just turn OFF the wiper stalk switch. I think I'd leave mine on. Am yellow.

use your imagination and -cut out a copy this sample sign, made about six inches square. Put a hole in the lower corner. mount it to the rear wiper shaft.

Make it lay sideways when at rest. Now, operate the rear wiper motor.

no one is liable to rear end your car anymore through -situational blindness- caused by brain farts.

Yep.. it's totalled. Can you believe it? It made me sick to my stomach when the service guy first told me.

At least the other guys insurance is paying for almost all of it, and they put me in a rental car for 45 days.

Yeah bro... I couldn't believe it either. I thought they were talking about the wrong car. I guess the guy smacked me at just the right angle or speed or something, and it twisted and buckled the frame pretty bad.

You could even see where the frame was buckled up above the passenger side front door.

So now I'm stuck driving a beater for the rest of the summer... although I'll probably buy another xB when I get out to England

yeah hopefully. well cars are designed to crumble to take the energy away from the impact. good luck. that beater will at least get you places and is pretty easy/cheap to repair minor things
