hopefully we'll see a hasbro-only mold of the tC for an alternator, but it's doubtful. i'll be pleasantly surprised if we see one.

you could skim through the rest of the topic and find the answer, but here goes, anyway...
takara makes the binaltech line in die-cast metal. some of their products have been different in style from the american habro versions, called alternators. for one, the first corvette, tracks, was yellow in japan, whereas he was blue (his classic G1 color... albeit without his trademarked flaming bird hood adornment) due to public outcry in america that tracks should be blue. (side-note: the newest incarnation of the corvette, a red hard-top named "swerve" actually comes with the flaming bird decal. it is not on the car when you get it, so you could put it on tracks if you want...)
"meister" - (japanese version of "jazz") has a variant only found in japan, as well... there's the white rx-8 that's know as meister, but there's a red japanese-market-only version of meister, knicknamed "zoom-zoom." the red one isn't available in america.
all hasbro versions are made in plastic to keep the cost down. $20 is a good price for these guys. i'd be more reluctant to have all of them (so far) if they were die-cast, as that would cause the price to sky-rocket to $50 a piece.
you can, however, buy the die-cast takara binaltech version on ebay or any site dedicated to importing foreign toys.
