Hell freezes over: GM fades to No. 2

What was unthinkable not too many years ago has finally happened -- Toyota is now the No. 1 automobile company in the world, surpassing General Motors in sales in the first quarter of this year. Toyota announced Tuesday that it had sold 2.348 million vehicles worldwide in the January-March quarter, surpassing the 2.26 million vehicles GM sold during the same period. Yes, it's only one quarter, but the momentum has been building for years now, and I don't expect Toyota to lose its lead anytime soon.

GM sucks. I've said this many times - I've owned so many american cars in the past (and i have an h2 now) and i also have an xB. the quality on the xB is so much better than the hummer. you can't compare the 2 vehicles but my 04 humemr has only 19k miles on it and it has so many damn problems.. my xB has 15k miles on it and is absolutely fine!
needless to say, and i've told my hummer dealer the same thing - i'm never buying an american car ever again.

part of me is happy, as a toyota owner, but as an american I am saddened. We shouldn't have gotten to this point. As much as I am a toyota owner, I want to see GM get that top spot. It's good to have competition, it bring innovation and lower prices for all (which noone can argue here.)

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here, my experience with american cars when compared to japanese cars is a no brainer, maybe its the japanese culture...maybe its the new american culture, I dont know...all I know is that quality talks and quantity walks, keep on walking GM.

GO TOYOTA!
But what's up with the Toyota line up in NASCAR? ( Camry & Tundra )
Most of them finish in the bottom 20 and some of them blow their engines
during 500 lap races.
It would be cool if a Toyota finishes in the top 10 in that division of racing.
