Default High Mile xB Potential Purchase

The GF is looking for a new ride, w/a limited budget of course.
I found a nice '05 she can afford. It's got 116k on it but everything looks oem and seems great.
Personally, I don't think 116k is high mile nowadays if regularly serviced, but she's concerned.
Been inspected w/good results.
Any reason to be concerned?
Thx in advance!

Just to kind of set you at ease, there is a member who uses his xB for work so it drives a lot, and he has over 200,000 on his xB (gen 1). I say if the fact that his is in stop and go traffic, and it has over 200,000 miles, then you should be fine (provided that the car was maintained properly, see if you can get copies of the paperwork from oil changes and major services)

If the price is right and it seems to be in good shape then get it! If you can get one with half the miles for a slight bit more then pass it up I guess it comes down to price..

id ask if if any thing has been done as far as the 100,000 mile service water pump.time belt etc ..kinda hint for them to get done free or lower the price although its not a big of a deal but ehh if can get done free why not ...also check the brakes i know most of us dont but my mom bought a used car from a lot and as soon as we got home brakes were gone ...the dealer fixed it asap also so ...

Th xB doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain which should never need replacement.

I bought my '04 with 102K on it, and have over 117K on it now. Stuff it needed:
-Front brakes (normal as they should last 30-40K)
-Plugs(normal interval 30K, these looked original)
-Air filter.
-Belts (one was squealing, might have been able to fix it with a tightening but decided to change it)
-Tires had been replaced before I bought it.

Other than that it is all factory original. It drove, shifted, handled, etc. exactly like the 31K '06 I had driven the day before. On a Toyota drivetrain 100K is barely breaking it in, as long as the car doesn't look like it's been abused I wouldn't worry at all about the miles.

I agree but if more than 8K I'd continue to shop around. There are plenty of nice low mile xBs out there for the finding.

When I read the thread title I was thinking like around 200k miles. I consider 116k more like 'good deal' instead of 'high miles' these days. $7100 is ok. Might have shopped around a bit more, but it's not an unheard of price, and not unreasonable.

All things considered, if it was maintained better mechanically that it was cosmetically it should be an ok deal. Congrats anyhow and enjoy.

I'd look for something with less miles, even though it is Toyota that's a lot of miles and you don't know how it was treated. If I was looking I'd rather have an older model car with less miles than a newer model with a lot of miles. But she's the one that has to decide, not me.

I drove it home from the dealer Friday, a 2.5 hr. trip. It is primo. What I can't believe is that it's got 90k more miles than mine but there's no difference! Smooth, tight, solid. One owner, it was regularly maintained, paint shines, interior is actually cleaner than mine. Engine compartment spotless. The dealer (Nissan) gave 9k for it on trade. Showed me the paperwork- as if I was supposed to be sympathetic to their "loss"
Pics of "The Twins" will be coming soon.
