How to chop your automatic shifter in half! DIY
What do you think of my automatic shifter?
Got it from Pepboys for like $25. heres how I did it.
Take off huge auto shifter with two phillips head screws and I just kept the overdrive buttom on and tucked it back in center consule. Next I took a fine saw and went around the metal post BUT be careful not to cut the plastic piece. You need this for shifter release.
Here is how much I took it down.
The inside of the shaft of the new shifter to fit over metal rod. Tighten it firmly and you have a short modified shifter that doesnt hit the side of your leg!
What do you guys think?

813 toaster just keep cutting lower and lower to you reach where you want. This mod is a must do. The bulky t handle shifter is the worse. Just becareful not to cut the plastic rod, only cut the metal. Then leave a tip of plastic.

Don't be afraid, it is a little tight but will come off. As far as the od buttom, I live in florida and hell I don't even know when you need it! I just left it on and put it under the consul tucked away.
