I've never seen worse placement of the cruise control stalk....1 inch from my knee...WTF? And this is the OEM version....what crap! I was very disappointed with it....but at least the damn thing works!

most toyota's cruise is like that. crappy location. ever see the celicas placement. one good hard turn and my knee is cut open by the cruise control stalk. and it wont be covered if its broken either :-\

What model Scion are you talking about?
You do know that the xA/xB cruise is NOT A SCION PART, right? It's made for Scions (like tons and tons of other aftermarket stuff), but not BY Scion. This means you can have the cruise stalk mounted anywhere you please really. I made sure that when I had mine done it would clear my knee when I worked the clutch (I'm 6'3").
If you're talking about the tC, I'm afraid I can't help you. I haven't driven them enough to form an opinion about the cruise, but I've never heard any of our club members complain.

It's not covered by a Toyota or Scion warranty, but by a dealer or distributor warranty since it is NOT a Toyota or Scion cruise control, but one made to fit the Scion xA/xB by Rostra in the USA.
They are an independent designer and manufacturer of aftermarket cruise control units for many different vehicles.
I've had them on Hondas before, and they are very well made, reliable units but the semi-universal control stalk is a compromise to work with as many different cars as possible with minor adaptation.
On most cars the stalk is a less than ideal control location, but it is one that more or less works.
The hole for mounting is not 'pre-drilled' and the installer could put it most anywhere, so long as there is room and it doesn't interfere (and the wiring harness reaches). There are suggested measurements for the installer to measure off, mark, and drill given in the installation sheets...
Anyway, bottom line is don't blame Toyota for the cruise - they do not make one for the xA or xB. Blame them for not making one.

I can see the words on the control, the light...everything.
I will admit, I wish the controls were on the wheel, but other then that, no big gripes at all on this product.
