that was with using no A/C and shifting somewhat decently (not revving like a race car all the time...just a little bit) and with gas prices diving down...I'm loving it. That made my day and I thought I would share. I think I enjoy the 30+ mpg more when gas prices are cheaper because I can fill up for 20 bucks and drive forever.

I haven't monitoring total miles , but have been watching MPG and best was 44MPG- This was w/o ac, almost all hyw @60MPH. I have a 05 Xb with auto.

 

How did you go about monitoring mpg without monitoring how many miles you were averaging per tank of gas??

 

I got 335 last time with 1 gallon left in the tank and I filled the tank up through the neck this time and havn't hit 3/4 tank yet and have 139 miles!!!! With my mods, I say that's pretty damn good. Seems to get better mileage now than when it was new.

 

I wasn't waiting for the tank to be near empty to refuel. So I was watching miles traveled between file-ups , but not waiting for empty to show up to refuel.

 

Well, that's good for your fuel pump. All you need is a minimum of 1/2 gallon of fuel, just enough to soak the fuel pump filter, so that it doesn't run dry and on fumes. It's not a good idea to wait until the orange light comes on. I usually fill up just as the needle passes 1/4 tank mark. This time I was heading home from work and traffic would have been HELL if I would have stopped.

 

the amber fuel light means you have approx 2 gallons of fuel left.

i've got a 340 tank once , trip from la to sacramento up the grapevine and all.

 

Sweet. I'm enjoying my almost all highway driving and friday night cruising around the Baltimore/Annapolis MD area.

 

i drive an 06 , auto ,had it since late june..... just had my 2nd oil change free from dealer... 10000 miles. i LOVE this car! i drive slow and dont acclerate fast. i get mostly 35mpg dont rev past 2500 rpms coast when i can ... you know its sort of a game ha ha ha cheap thrill huh.

i tend to average 30mpg now matter how hard i drive. i cant complain

heh... with the crazy gas prices, anyone notice how many more people are driving around the speed limit these days?.. don't get me wrong, speed is fun, but getting 400 miles to a tank is rewarding (in a way)...

best tank: 401 miles, filled up with 10.796 gallons for 37.143 mpg... lifetime avg. is around 33+ mpg since oct. '03...

 

The best I got was 383 miles on a tank. When I went to fill up (same method, same gas station) I still had a little over a gallon of fuel in the tank according to my crude calculations. This particular tank I decided to really push the limits and put a jerry can in the back just in case I ran out. Anyhow I caved in and decided I had better just fill er up. Damn this is a great car.

 

I have got 360, when I filled it up,.....I forget the total but it was 11 plus gallons of gas it took.

I think I can do better...I'm gonna throw a jerry can in the back and push it to it's limit this time. I do ALL highway driving commuting 80 miles a day to and from work so I can really test it's limits. My goal is to get 400 miles on a tank....that would be sweet.

 

It depends on what you mean by "tank." If you drain it dry, 400mi/11.9gal is a bit less than 34 mpg. On the other hand, if you get 400mi between filling it up and the low-fuel light turning on, that would be about 400mi/9.6gal, or pretty near 42mpg.
