Inner Fender / Wheel Well Alternative
I'd like to know if anyone has done anything creative with their inner wheel well to keep from rubbing (besides just cutting slits in them, I've tried that). I'm running 19"x7.5" wheels with 215/35/19 tires. I don't rub too often, but I noticed over time my wheel well lining has gotten torn up. Has anyone removed the ones in the front or done something different with them? I'd like to take them out, but I'm weary about what would get kicked up into my engine compartment. I have the AEM cold air (just to let you know). I noticed Nish has something that goes in the wheel well, but I'm not sure what it does/ where it is installed. Any comments/suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Thanks for the posts, but I'm not concerned with people who DON'T have my problem; I'd only like to hear from people with my problem or people who have a creative solution. Thank you.

to answer you question i had the same problem. take it to a body shop and they will simply get a 2x4 and where it it rubbing will use a mallet to knock it in an eighth or quarter of an inch. you will keep you rust protection and won't have to add a "cover" to take up space in your well that you don't have. i know it sounds brutal but thats how it's done.
you have your suspension where you want it is suppose so stiffer springs is not an option. it's a waste of money and its not gonna work. i got 225-40-18s.

dude, the issue isn't if you think the tires size is wrong or right., the issue is what do you do to fix this cats problem. he wants the answer and i gave it to him. you cant add more plastic into the well since its already rubbing, you and i know buying new springs is foolish. if we only put on tires that toyota/scion says is the right size then no one would be ridin' 19"s or 20". fact is hundreds are driving with them. not every one wants to ride with a rubber band. the problem isn't how it rides, it's that it's rubbin. its all cool.
we don't know his offset and that doesn't matter now, he already has the tires. so lets fix it.

It's funny that I saw this today as I'm probably going to put a new fender liner on the passenger side this afternoon. It got a small crack in it a few months back and slowly got worse and worse. So, I would say do not make a cut in the plastic as it will start to tear. If you do need to cut it for rubbing reasons, then I would say find a way of reinforcing the edges where you do cut. They sell bonding putty that might work. I've used it for other things before and this might work. I was thinking you would only need to make an "L" joint of some sort out of it that only goes behind the corners of the cut out part to reinforce. Another thought is to get some of that spray on rubber liner. After you cut away part of the liner you could spray that on. This might reinforce the part from ripping etc. FYI a replacement costs between $60 and $80 depending on the dealership.
