I owned a 2000 LS Integra (2dr) until I traded it in, I was paying a 6 month premium of $2312,
then I just bought an 05' PW xB 2 days ago, and now I'm paying a 6 month premium of $1569.

In my case its' cheaper.

Is it true that the color of your car can affect rates as well?

Well, I pick up My car tonight, will let you know the difference in rates when I call the insurance company tonight. going from a 2001 VW Beetle Turbo to a xB RS 2.0, plus live the DC area where insurance rates are among the highest in the nation! Currently paying about 1400.00 per year with a clean drivers record not points and a good drivers discount.

depends on the insurance company but yes... if you get theft protection the color of the car can matter.

1400.00 per year that is a crime. That rate is for the DC area no accidents no tickets. They did tell me it was higher because of the VW 1.8 turbo engine. Good thing I checked around for the lowest rate!!!!

I was quoted $700 for full coverage, $250 deductible. Not bad in my opinion considering already paying about $580 for the same coverage with my 1998 Civic LX, 4 door sedan.

The good news is that the xB is considered "a wagon." Checked with my Agent recently, and full coverage in Chicagoland is $60.00 per month,
not bad considering we are paying $50.00 on a 89 Honda.

OOps, can't remember what the Ded. is.

I wish I only had to pay $1400 a year. I think im paying close to $2500, and thats less than my '04 Elantra at like $2900. I have no points or tickets left on my record. Thats the price you pay for living in good 'ol NJ. And this is with NJM! I tried to go with Geico or Progressive and they wanted to charge me $2072 for 6 Months! That would have been close to $4200! Rates are insane around here!

What will affect your rate

Last but definately not least (most companies use this portion for about 30to 40 percent of the rate)-your credit score.-most insurance companies will run a credit check and come up with a insurance score. This IS score is mostly based on how much credit you have vs how much is used and if you pay your bills on time. Insurance companies have found a direct correlation between adverse credit and probable accidents.
damn, everyone uses credit scores for everything now, employment, insurance rates..etc....

Kiddo's...it pays to have good credit

This is good to know that insurance is cheap, but most anything will be cheaper than my current car, which is a convertible.
