Default Insuring the xB...

Just to keep you guys posted on insurance....

My previous car was a 2000 Ford Focus SE. I had full coverage w/ $0 deductible and it was $135 a month. I am 20, Squeaky clean record, drivers' training and I get a "good student" discont for College.

So for my 2005 TCM MT xB- it went up a $1.50 a month. woo-hoo! I know im paying alot for insurance (compared to someone who is 35) but i think $136.50 a month is a fair price to pay.

How much are others paying that are close to my age?

That actually seems pretty fair for $0 deductible. I pay slightly more for that with 2 cars and 500 deductible, but with $100K/$300K coverage. I had an accident about two years ago that I'm waiting to drop off my record with the insurance company. But, I'm also in Southern California, which I hear is one of the more expensive places to insure. When I was a kid, my folks (in Colorado) had their insurance increase to $75/ month with highest coverage available for lease when I turned 16 and was added to the policy. I know it's not that low there any more.

You people do not know how lucky you are.

I have a bad record. I had a period of about 3 months where my luck was shot and I got 3 speeding tickets. Not to long after that I got pulled over on my way home from a party(keep in mind this was at 8 a.m. after I had slept) and got a breathalyzer and still had to much alcohol in me. I was 19 at the time so not much was to much. Add that to the speeding ticket I got right after I started driving and my record is shot. For me to get insurance on my own (I am 20 btw) it would be around $350 a month. That is through State Farm if they would accept me. To keep it on my parents it will be only $169 a month. That is if they do not run my driving record and see the D.U.I. which they have not done yet. Hopefully when I get my xB it will all go smoothly and I will only pay $169 a month.
