so i've been looking for a xb for a few months now. found 2 prospects.

the first is a 06 white 5sp with 90k miles. its going for about $6k. pretty much stock. body looks pretty clean

the second is a 04 silver 5sp with 42k miles for about $5800. it has air bag suspension but the rear is stuck on full up at the moment. the body is a little beat up from parking on nyc streets but drives well.

dont know which i should go with. on one hand the newer car is cleaner body and interior wise but has higher miles. on the other i have a low mileage car that drives well and has a basic air suspension setup (albeit not fully functional) and the body needs some work.

what do you guys think is the better deal. i think i can probably get the guy with the 04 down to 5k maybe lower since he told me he only owes 4k on the car at the moment.

what do you guys think?

 

go with the polar white. if the bags are already giving problems then you dont wanna get involved in it~! these cars can go every bit of 300k miles so mileage isnt an issue. btw bags are for groceries!!!

 

do you have pictures of either car? I'd personally go for the one with the bags. If they're that much of a concern, you can swap the bags out for static suspension, and recoup a good bit of money.

 

but the body is in better shape on the one without. the recoup on selling the air suspension would be offset by the body work plus polar white is oh so sexy!!!

 

yea. unless the guy with the air setup sells it to me for under 5k which i doubt (well maybe) i think i might go with the polar white. dont have pix of the beat up one but here are the polar white ones

If the bagged box has other body cosmetic issues as well, and having to f*&k around with the suspension, then you may be looking at more than the difference in price to get it into the shape of the PW.
Factor in the type of mileage- stockbox drivers tend to drive their vehicles for function and softer- if you see body dings and junk aside from the issues you are aware of on the bagged one, you can assume that this guy may not have quite as "gently used" of an xB even with lower miles.
Just my opinion... I don't know anybody with mods that doesn't push hard on the box every now and then, and I don't know anybody stock who pushes theirs hard at all.

 

Yea i think I'll be going for the white one. I want something worry free since it'll be my daily

Polar white + nice set of wheels and coilovers > box with broken airbag system and crappy paint/bodywork.
