Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy Synthetic
Gotta do my 20K service tomorrow so I went to get my oil and found this stuff. 0W30 Synthetic from Mobil 1 that exceeds 5W and 10W standards. So, I'm gonna give it a go. http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english/...fuel_calc.html. Sweet calculator will help you estimate how much you can save at the pump annualy and over a 7 year period. Just thought I'd share

Yeah, I have used Royal Purple, My buddy always swore by Amsoil and I have used Castrol SyntecandMobil 1 Synthetic. Honestly havent noticed any difference between the 3. Wont use conventional and In Anchorage synthetic was a real need. Does the TC use 5w20?

Amsoil I know for sure is IV base, but its not that necessary to get caught up in the GIV vs GIII debates...just change it on a regular basis, that is what is more important.

I never understood the "higher MPG claim" that 0w30 make, saying improved mileage over 5w30. At operating temps, they are both a 30 weight and that is where a very large percentage of your time driving is.
I ran 0w30 and say no measurable difference in MPG when compared to 5w30.

First, someone is going to tell you to use the SEARCH function
Me, thinking differently ill tell you that a fully synthetic oil is 100% man made. By going this route you are not putting dirt and other comtaminents into your engines internals. Synthetics usually have a higher viscosity as well.
I have used Mobil 1 for the better part of 17 years now and have had no problems. If its good enough for NASA its good enough for me. This news that Mobil 1 is no longer synthetic is just that ... new to me. I now use the extended life Mobil 1 and change my oil once a year using a quality Pure One ( blue box ) filter. Even at 8 ot 9K miles the color of the oil is still slightly darker and transparent.
Let the flogging begin.

That has nothing to do with real-world automotive applications anyway.
Using used oil analysis (UOA), M1 shows more engine wear when compared to PP in our motors. There is no truth to the generic statement, "the best oil is....". The only way to know for sure is with UOAs.
