My Cruise control spins!!
I had the dealership install cruise on my box, but it feels really cheaply done.
The shaft feels really cheap like I could break it off if im not careful.
Also I can twist it. Shouldn't it be tight to where it doesnt spin?
Later Scion peeps!

They probably need to tighten the nut that holds the stalk on. I put mine on and it feels pretty stiff. I bought another lock nut to put on the outside so that is probably why mine doesn't spin. I would bring it back to the dealer to get it straighten out since they installed it. Or you can do it yourself. Check out the instruction manual for the cruise control at trdsparks.com or allscion.com to find out how.

This is what I don't like about dealer installed options, there is no quality control. It's up to you to get any mistakes corrected. For Toyota's options (and the cruise isn't one of them), there is usually a checklist to follow to make sure everything is in working order, but who says if the checklist is done or not!?

It works and all. Isn't cruise control, cruise control? I set it and it goes. Hit the brakes and it turns off. If you shift from Drive to neutral it turns off (I drive an automatic). Doesnt really act funny or anything. You do have to step on the brakes kind of hard for it to turn off, you cant just touch the pedal like on my camry, you have to press it. That would be my only complaint.
I dont know what brand it is. Do you guys know if there is something I can look at under the hood that would tell me?

you need to have the dealer tighten the mounting nut up, I had mine installed at Ziebart ($300.00) had to also take it back because as you mentioned, I could move it around like a joystick. It is very annoying to have to take stuff back when you pay good money for it.

When my cruise was first installed at the dealer it also felt very loose. It would turn and didn't feel secure at all. It was annoying so when I got my free oil change I had them tighten it up in there. Instead of an extra trip I had them work on it when the box was already at the dealer. The stalk is now secure and feels way better than it did before. I'm happy that I took it in to get corrected.

The problem is "fit and finish" and Toyota's instructions for their accessories usually address those too, not just checking the function. It's up to the installer to actually follow them.
In this case it's an aftermarket option installed by the dealer.
