Default My fan doesnt work Please help.

hey guys, the fan doesnt blow in my 2005 scion xb, it just stopped working. No air blows out of the vents when i turn the air on. When it first started happening it blew just very lightly, got slower and slower and slower till it just doesnt blow any air at all. if i push the fan with my hand it starts blowing but still vary lightly.

Anyone have any issues like this and or know what the problem may be?

do i have to take the whole dashboard apart to get to the fan?

any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

hahaha, when I first opened this thread I was under the idea that your engines fan wasnt working...

Your blower motor (the fan for the climate controls) is directly behind your glove box, Ive never replaced mine, but I know that where it is... LOL... check your fuse panel by your knee, there should be a fuse for it, but along the lines of twhat you said, it sounds like the blower itself...

how many miles, where are you? just so that I can get an idea of how much it is used....

Actually, first you need to slide the filter drawer out and see if the filter is too dirty to let air pass (you did have a filter in there, right?) if you didn't have a filter in there, see if you have a bunch of stuff that has gotten into the fan.

THEN check the fuses. No point in putting a new fuse in of there is something blocking the fan.

Thanks guys i did check the fuses and they are fine, there wasnt a filter there but it is definetly something i am gonna add when its all said and done.

Does anyone know if i can get the fan motor out without taking the dash apart? does the white box that covers the fan drop down? thanks

There should be a few screws on the plastic that will allow you to pull it apart without taking the dash apart...

Wow... (forgot about scion docs, thanks tomas)

it COULD be done without taking the dash apart... but then again, brain surgery COULD be done by a toddler

I know that DJ_Sparky just took his apart not to long ago, and Im sure that you could PM with any issues...

Ill take a look at mine tomorrow, since I dont have alot of the plastic in my car, and Ill see if I can take a few pics for the OP
