I noticed that when I was in Iowa a few months ago...every station, gas was $1.76 for PREMIUM and $1.79 for REGULAR. It was the craziest thing I had ever seen.

I use 87...I'm ashamed to say the price it is in the town I live in...even the Texas people are going to hate me. Most stations are $1.89-$1.93...however, the Shell station is $1.70, maybe less today...they've been competing with the surrounding towns(beer store towns).

I'm using 93 and getting about 36 mpg, @ about 30% highway. 93 runs about $1.80 here.

I use regular 87 what ever is the cheapest. For those of you who use "snake oil" (i.e. fuel additives that say they'll clean deposits whether in the combustion chamber or in the fuel injectors) I would recomend a FULL tank of Super (93 if you can get it) prior to treating the gas. I personally dont use any of the products as all petrol contains additives whether you go to a ma' and pops station or a Texaco. The only additive you need or should ever use is "Lead Substitute" if you have an older car that ran "leaded" petrol. As for those of you that run higher than 87, as stated before, you are actually contributing to MORE polution by running a higher octane rating than required. Don't believe me, get your car emissions tested, one with 87, one with 93... the results will suprise you.
