Yeah, I know how you feel. Sixty-three, white hair and beard. City council member and former mayor. Always liked imports. Drove modded Mini (original) and modded Morris Minor in the 1960s.

Driving a dropped xB with Enkeis and SuperTrapp exhaust does get looks. All the rest of the customers at the local tuner shop look at me like the school principal when I come in.

Seems xBs appeal to both ends of the age continuum.

Same story, I can get in and out with my vintage knees (not yet replaced), feel great not making the Middle East sheiks richer, and love bopping around in my xB. My daughter steals it every chance she has (cause she can easily hook up her iPod), and we can even take friends out for dinner and all sit in comfort and easily park the Scion anywhere in the city. Until the Smart cars come out, this thing is the greatest city car to come out since the original Civic.

Remember, you have to grow old but you don't have to grow up! My other cars are 2 Porsche 914-6s and a BMWZ3 for the days I want to play in traffic. For everyday driving, the Scion always wins out!

customizing cars has been around alot longer than most of here. but at the age of 42, i love to mess with the "old" crowd by taking my modded xb to the local cruise ins we have nearby just to startle them. i usually stand back in the crowd and watch their expressions and listen to their comments. some good some bad. but one thing is for sure. among all the prostreet, vintage, classic cars around(usually about 200 or so) THEY DO NOTICE ME! i dont care what ur age is, once ur a modder-always a modder.
CUSTOM DON'T COME IN BOX, IT IS A BOX!

OK so I am not 18 and have an interest in Scions and doing a few mods on my ride.
It is not a crime to be nearly 55 is it? I just hope when the young guy is 55 he is still driving his Honda!!
dont mess with his potential rice rocket, hes totally going to out fart the old fart.
The oil change went fine. They wanted to replace my cabin filter because "it is recommended to replace at 20,000 miles." I advised them that the car does not come with the filter and that I had put it in about 5,000 miles ago.......

That's funny that they wanted to change a filter that wasn't suppossed to exist. How ironic. Gotta love those Toyota dealers. I would have said "give me the filter that the factory forgot" LMAO

OK, here is my old timer story,,,

58 own my 2006 Salsa Red xB since August. I am coming out of the local wally world, and there is this guy and his girl looking at the xB. They are in their 20's.

So as I walk up I hit the door unlock, and they turn and look who is the owner and they are trying to look around me, like there should be a 21 year old coming behind me. They were shocked it was me to say the least. They said they would love to get one, so I give them the .50 cent tour. Let them check the inside and under the hood. The say they are going to get one somehow. Hope they do. It is a great ride.

I'm in the over 40 club as well. I bought the xB for my wife, but I must admit that I love driving it. It's not particularly fast and doesn't handle like a race car, but something about it just makes it an above average fun car to drive. The xB has an inherent fun factor and most people either love it or hate it. It causes controversy whever it goes and seeing me and my wife and two kids in the xB always gets stares from other drivers.

Plus, making it your own by doing mods just adds to the fun factor. I've only had the xB a few weeks and have already added new wheels, a new shifter and have some other mods planned.

The box rox!
