I wouldn't do it. The rear side windows are taller than the door window so that with the blackout tape all 3 windows on the side blend-in into s single large dark area. Toyota did that for a reason. If you peel the tape off then the rear side windows look too big and odd. It breakes the lines of the box.

thats crazy!
im sure you could go to a local vinal shop and get it done.
i understand that its a special vinal, but the good vinal used at shops is good for 7 year. so lets just say a local shop wants $150 and you change the vinal every 5 years. in 15 year you would have only spent $450. thats still cheeper then $678 at the dealer.

well anyway....... i like mine peeled.

that is en idea.

but the issue is about half the people like the full raparound window look. so i don't think painting the mirror base would help them.

in my case....... that might be something i would look in to.

It would only cost under 20 bucks worth of semi gloss vinyl sheeting and some time to apply.
But Dane, don't do it. It doesn't work on the light colored vehicles. It looks great on dark ones tho like my BCP.

I even thought about painting mine with semi gloss spray paint when I wanted it black again. That way it can always be removed again if need be.

Good choice - sometimes "different" just isn't "better"!

I thought about that also. What about getting some white vinyl and covering all the black stuff with white stuff without actually peeling?

yeah that wouldnt be a bad way to go, i think i am going to check in with a local vinyl shop and see if they have a satin black vinyl like on the doors and possibly get some cut to put on the A's and the D's

That's kinda what they did on the Cube to give it the floating look.

I have a PW box with tint and I would not dream of removing the tape.
The reason is: It looks so much cleaner as a big UNBROKEN expanse of black.
Clean is the key word. Why would someone want all those little white lines breaking up the expanse of dark glass?
The fewer big simple shapes something consists of, the better it looks to the eye.
This is empirically true, not JMHO
