poor gas mileage?
Are you guys getting ____ poor gas mileage out of your box as well? With mixed driving in city and highway at speed limits, I would be lucky to 300 miles out of my tank(I haven't tried and don't want to). This thing gets worse mileage than my civic. I'm riding on stock tires and stock steel wheels. Either Scion is lying about gas milage ratings or they are lying about the size of the gas tank being 11.90 gallons.
What are you guys getting out of your box per tank?

Getting about 32 mpg on my new xB. That is with some highway and city driving. Stock tires and wheels currently on the 5 speed. I end up filling up at around the 300 mile mark, but hasn't needed even a full 10 gal. at that point. I may let it go until the light comes on next time and see how far that goes and how much it takes at that point.

kinda funny this topic keep come up all the time but it's true some of the xb is getting poor gas mileage,if i drive at 70 mph on the highway and drive at the speed limit in the city i get about 275 to 300 miles per tank and thats with 18" rim and tire, would be nice to if my gas mileage was as good as my honda civic, anyway my main reason for getting the xb was for the roomy interior hope toyota work on improving the mpg in the future...

Hmmm... my first tank was between 31 and 33, 2nd tank I got 36, and 3rd tank I got 37. Looking forward to seeing what I will get this next tank. this is all a mixture of freeway and surface streets. Half and half. The tank I got 37 mpg with I went like 344 miles and it only took like 9.2 gallons or so to fill up.
I have been driving the box a little harder this tank to see if it changes my mileage at all. curious to see the difference.

this just recently started happening to me. when i first got it the mileage was great. getting 300+ miles each tank. i went 90mph from san atonio to dallas on one tank. now i travel to austin and it eats up like crazy. burning more the a 1/4 just going up there. has this problem been diagnosed?

the estimated mileage on any cars sticker is generous (very few of us drive in the conditions that the automakers test). and i've noticed the indicators on the fuel tank aren't close to being actual 1/4 tanks, especially that last 1/4 tank.
i've averaged about 28mpg since the spring hit, using the heat only on occasion and not using my remote starter as much. i figure when the weather is consistantly above 60 it'll be even better because won't need the heat or the starter, until the temps crack 90.
plus it's all about where you drive and how you drive. i would say i'm 50/50 highway/street and i try to keep the rpms at or below 3k.
the gas mileage on the sticker was a plus to me, i bought my box because it fit my desire to be different. anything over 25 is good to me.

How many miles are on your box? It might take it a few thousand miles before the engine starts to run at its peak efficiency. Are you running your AC full blast all day long? Do you do a lot of jackrabbit starts? There are a lot of variables that can determine your overall mileage.
When I drive my wife's Corolla the mileage drops by about 3 to 6 mpg. She drives like an old grandma.

I'm getting better mpg in town than I am on the freeway... it's driving me nuts! It takes me about 1/4 a tank to drive to Katy, which is roughly 60 miles away - doing a constant 75mph or so. Best I've gotten so far is about 270 miles out of a tank.

I don't drive a box but with the xA I have to fill up every 225 miles that is how many miles I get per fill up.only a meassly 225miles I traded my jetta because I hated to fill up every 290miles but I am starting to regret my purchase........

he who rives 50/50 hw/street at or below 3k rpm's must be doing 40 on the highway max. Not a very safe thing to do in Chicago. 3 grand for me is 60 at least in 5th gear. I need to go 70/75 on the hw just to NOT get runover. Like I said. Didn't buy it for it's mileage. Bought it for it's looks. Now I'm gonna make it look better.

is there a problem with my xB? I only get as much gas mileage in my SQUARE STATION WAGON / mini mini van as a hybrid Accord (number based on what someone said in a comment on a story on autoblog.com)
