How many people let there gas level get down to the very end you know when you fill up you get 11 Gallons. Thats not very good for the fuel pumps. Also i don't know why everyones complaining about they don't get good mpg. Last i looked 30+ mpg is very good. My brother drives an 02 Mazda B3000 and only gets 13mpg/city and my mom drives an 05 Pathfinder and gets 16mpg/city. I drive an 04 xB and get 26mpg/city and i'm very happy because my old jeep cherokee only got 17mpg/city and that was a standard. If you guys don't like the mpg that you are getting then go out and buy a Prius or something like that and stop complaining that you not getting more that 40mpg. You should of read the numbers on the sticker on side of the car before you bought it. They tell you what to expect on mpg.

hey Flip-FLop. Have you tried the ground wire mod?
On my auto it difinatly made a difference on take off.
Last june,I upgraded the CAI to a short one and installed a ground wire kit I bought from ebay. That combo put the tranny on steroids and it always downshifts on half or more throttle. It will take 5-7 seconds to upshift again even when Im not accellerating. Have to turn the overdrive off then on for it to upshift. The ECT tranny is behaving like Im always on an uphill climb. It is quicker because it's now downshift happy but it's also quicker on gas consumption. (26-27 ave. on 4 tankfills)

Many of us are getting really good mileage--it's not Scion's fault you don't know how to maximize your fuel efficiency.

ALL you guys are doing good on gas my box only gets about 24 to 26 mpg,I'm rolloin on 18"s with a TRD cat back and an AEM (not TRD ) CAI, Auto trans.
The first few tanks were good but after the cold air and catback It went to H$&*........
I have 8800 miles on the box and was hoping it would get better after it loosened up a bit.....
I drive this daily for my sales route and do about 2500 miles a month, I know I have a heavy foot, and after installing the mods it takes more fuel to get her going, kind of dissapointed in the mileage but it's more than double what I used to get in my full size Dodge truck....
Now after all that : I wouldnt trade my box for the world LOVE IT!!!!!

i lived in fresno/madera area for a while where its more open road and highway driving to get places, my mpg was about 28-30, and im in the san jose bay area during the summer and right now im getting about 25-28 mpg, i get around 220-250 before fill, but thats not running till empty though, still the traffic sucks here and it make mpg suck

One thing that kills gas mileage is a lot of short trips. If you do nothing but commute say 10-15 miles each way 5 days a week, you'll probably get very poor mileage because of the extra gas consumed during all those startup/warm-up cycles.
And of course, you get zero MPG when standing still in a traffic jam (welcome to Philadephia!).

At $2.50 a gallon, that's a $150 dollar difference in cost over 12K miles Barely over 10 bucks a month. Personally, the time I save is worth the extra gas I burn. Is it to you?
