Default R.I.P. Hot Lava RS1 #1382

Baadddddd news.

I was driving some friends to their prom... it was going to be a pretty sweet deal because I guess a lot of kids at the school were flipping out over getting to see the xB (kinda rare around these parts) dropping off some of their schoolmates.

About 3/4 the way there we are in traffic, and as we are driving along, the traffic sort of jerks to a halt, so we stop. Suddenly this woman in a Honda Accord comes torpedoing into the back of the xB, pushing us into the cars in front of us and causing a 4-car accident.

I was most concerned about my friends. Thankfully, everyone was wearing their seatbelts, and everyone is OK besides some bumps and bruises.

The xB was not as lucky. The rear door is destroyed. The entire rear of the frame seems to be compressed in... The bumper and everything was pushed so far up that they are against the wheels, so I had to give the engine everything I could to pull off to the side. The rear springs are like... in front of the wheels now. The rear doors barely shut... the left one you have to dropkick into the car in order to close it.

The billet grill nearly popped clean out, the fog light covers popped out and one is MIA. I do not even want to know what went on in the engine compartment...

The bazooka sub must be built to last, because that son of a _____ did not even crack. It instead pushed the rear seat forward. The Enkei wheels that were installed a couple of weeks ago look like they are in good shape.

I would be shocked if this thing were not totaled... they would have to rebuild the rear and the frame of the car.

Very disappointing... but again, I am just glad nobody was hurt. Here are some pics, although they do not do justice IMO.

Holy Cow!...

Where did you get that extended exhaust tip?

The vehicle does not look to be that bad in terms of damage though unless there is major frame damage on the back. If not, they will likely repair it. It will definitleyu be better for you if they total it though. It is hard to get any good money selling or trading a vehicle that has been hit like that.

Good luck with the insurance company....and the neck pain

Looks like it took the hit pretty well. I was wondering how they would perform in a collision. Did she try to stop, and if not, how fast was she going?

No extension. That's the TRD exhaust. I guess it wasn't hit, so it wasn't pushed back like the rest of the car. That just gives you an idea of how ____ed the back is.

And yeah, I would classify this as "major" frame damage.

She didn't stop, apparently. Probably going 15-20 mph, not sure.

The ins co is going to look at it, but the guys who towed it in said they can't imagine an insurance company paying for damage like that.

Like I said, the pictures don't do it justice. Another thing that I just remembered is that the none of the doors shut properly. The back left door doesn't even shut, but the other ones barely close because the entire frame is compressed together.

We'll see what the inpectors say

When they total it .Since there are no more Hot Lavas left make them paint a new one orange just to fix them. The _____ will cry when she gets cancled. Tell them you dont want any color except the color you had. The insurance company will ____.

Uh, I don't think so man. It's not impossible to get another Hot Lava, there are dealers that still have some.

As for the mods, Everything the car had is insured, except the wheels. But I can just grab those off the car and get them installed onto a new one.

Dang Meng... I dissapear for a few days ... and look what happens .... sorry to hear about the box and I'm glad everyone's ok. Yeah ... got my oil changed at rockingham yesterday .. had to lava's sittin on the lot ... service writer was like .. "yeh, got one fully customized out there. Someone will be a lucky owner who picks up that one" .. was thinkin' however they'll be lucky to unload it at a just over $20K pricetag...

on the plus side ... most Ins. companies (in NH) will give you the option of replacement instead of a check (with new cars)... which would be the way to go if they offer it ...

hope for the best
