As for the skid plates. 1. Look underneath the front bumper, you will notice that theres 6-8 screws holding that black plastic piece that helps keep dirt and stuff off the motor. Thats where the skid plates should be installed. 2. As for cutting, cut them to match the body lines and body flow of the lip and bumper. But as far as how much they stick out, thats up to you. 1''-1 1/2'' sticking out looks pretty sick.
Good luck!

Your funny, thought you was serious for a minute. We just got finished with a little mudding , first day off from school, im having fun. Cleaned the interior though, no school, no need for the backpack and school papers and what not. Heres a pic of what your missing.

Ive got the skid plate made. The mounts are going to be cut marrow afternoon. The xB gets a new windshield marrow too, the stock windshield is a POS. The skid plate is made of some pretty heavy stainless steel, its pretty ruff looking. Couple slits cut for air, ill post pics when my neighbor gives me my memory stick back.

Here's some pics of my Rally xB, with front skid-plate...
Home made skid-plates underneath...
And metal screen installed behind the grill (to protect radiator from rocks) with a view of the repositioned OEM air intake to create a ram-air intake...
Love my xB

sweet skid plate, mines not so much good looking at yours. I know mine works though, had to try it out. when i pull up to a curb, i can drive the xb on the the skid plate and lift the front of the car off the ground.
I did the same ram-air idea as you did, only mine is located at the fog light area, my fog light covers are off my car. nice work!!!

It's able to support the weight of the front of the xB?! That's fantastic!
What did you make your skid plate out of?
Mine is built from industrial grade 2/8" thick, hardened, diamond tread aluminum.
Can you please tell me where you mounted the front skid plate?
I have looked for a suitable mounting location, but there is only 2 bolt holes under the radiator support and the plastic mounting straps behind the front ground effects and a plastic splash shield that surrounds the lower engine area. Do you have any photos of how it is built and attached?

I like the fact that it's attached to the rear shock tower mounts...

DANG, youve done your research ,lol.
My skid plate is made of 1/16 stainless steel, VERY HARD to work with. I attached mine to the 2 bolts holding the platic straps to the ground effects. I also, sounds bad, but works great, attached it to the tranny. ill take some pics later today and post them or email them to you. i can slowly drive the xB on the the plate, but driving force, well, the plate has been knocked back a bit, ive smacked it hard several times, hasnt moved much anymore.
Thanks for the info on the window vents. It looked like u had a bug guard, but couldnt tell for sure.
Where did you get the other pic of the roll cage, i would like to get more if i could. The one i build should be similar to it. I just got a job at a local auto shop, so now ill have some income to buy the tubing for a static roll cage, nothing serious.
Ill send you a email about the pics.
