well the piping is a temp thing, but it is actually very straight. i was still gettin it set in the pic. only one curve at the point it turns into the air box. The ridges along the inside arent really any worse than the factory ones, but the opening is much larger. if i get any response from what i did im gonna do somthing a bit diff, you'll see later. and as for the port, yeah its big. like i already said ill prob change it out or paint it, till then its kinda wild

You serious? I would gladly send you a check for it.

I went to buy one this weekend but all were over $25!! Im going to try to talk to IT today to see if they have me cable when they switched out my computer. If not I will order one from ebay for less than $10.

OK...smoe initial impressions:

Normally I fill up when I hit 1/4 tank left. Usually around 8 gals. to fill and 280-ish on the trip odo.

I made my mod install with just a hair above half a tank. I am now just above 1/4 tank with 303 on the odo. Should be around 320 before I fill up.

I am going to repeat with a full tank to see if I can get repeat the increase in MPG.

Thats the only reason I gave this mod a shot. CAI, short ram...whatever, they are all restrictive in my eyes. BoxOffices idea to completely remove the restriction is what sold me on the idea.

Defintely wild. Wish I was that brave. For those that think that is a little extreme here's the way I would do it if I were to try...

keep in mind that the actual hole in my bumper is on 2.5", so i could swap the "horn" for any round port i like...that is the plan

Well, heres a slightly off topic update. i ran an actual intake hose to my gargantuan port. I also added a screen to filter major debris. the angle of the pipe shouldn't let too much of anything up into the air box, but still gonna get the K&N drop in filter. thanks for the feedback earlier. I guess ill see if there is any advantage to all this over the next few days, new hose:

rounded screen

Some of the ricers might stay away from you. It looks like a HUGE turbo inlet or something.

You just need the USB cable from the computer to your camera, right?
PM me with your info, and I'll fire one off to you...

it looks like the mpg gain is from the increase in airflow.

so... in theory, getting a short ram intake SHOULD yield better mpg, if it didnt make the driver punch it all the time.

^its growin on me, but thanks for ur opinion.

i was pleasntly surprised today when i took out ym car. the direct connection to the port gave the car noticeable bit more "umph". i imagine its somewhat similar to a SR. cant wait to couple this with the K&N drop in. as for MPG, the way ive been drivin i highly doubt ill see any change. next time i fill up ill drive more conserative to look for a change.
