Here is a low quality video of what you can expect to hear from removing the snorkel.. I'll make a better one some other time, but I hope some of you at least get a feel for what it sounds like..

Yeah, and the video just doesn't do it justice.. I'll take another one that is hopefully less choppy. I'd also like to get a video of the sound form the outside of the car,

just gotta reach down and grab it as close to the airbox as you can and wiggle it back and forth while pulling away from the airbox. it will pop right off there's nothing holding it to it.

yea... wasnt working. ended up being super late for work

anyway the frustration has gotten the best of me and i am now determined to buy a filter for my injen. ive had the pipe for quite a while, just never got around to buying the filter.

as soon as i get that airbox out of the engine bay im ripping that fkn snorkel out of the airbox out of pure spite.

Theres always a hack saw, or dremel, or you can use a torch and melt it off. Although I wouldn't recommend any of these methods.

UPDATE!

OK, I really worked at it this last tank of gas. My previous best tank was 406 miles just a tank or two ago. This time I really pushed it, and went a whopping 448 miles!
That also equated to 40.49 mpg!
I'm really jazzed to see all the MPG related posts going on right now. We've created an awesome "monster" here - now I guess I'm going to have to put the stock tires back on to really compete with ICE4ROG and the rest!

I'm on track for 480miles if I use 11gallons. Wish I had topped off, but at the same time not always the best for the car.

I ended up using 11.066 gallons for my 448 miles.
I just read your post - I think I'm getting MPG-envy!

I thought running the fuel tank lower than a couple gallons left was bad for the pump. The gas keeps it cool.

Running the tank too low can, indeed, destroy the fuel pump, but that's closer to about
a half gallon on the level, bot more if the tank is tipped so the gas flows away from
the pump.

Just remember: If you ever run out of gas, shut off the ignition immediately to protect
the in-tank fuel pump.

Thanks Tomas,
I'll defintely keep that in mind when I get the crazy idea to keep going. I'm probably going to try and fill up once I think I've used about 11.5 gallons. I definetly won't be doing what I'm doing every tank either. In fact maybe the next tank of gas I'll see how low of a mpg I can get! Nah but I'm looking forward to driving a little more normal and getting 35mpg. I think my pinky toe is getting a callous with all the gas pedal feathering.
