Roof Rack- Surfboard?

I have a Yakima rack, and I'm very satisfied with it. I don't surf, but I cycle, so I just throw my bike on top and away I go! Explore this site. It's great. yakima.com

I have the Yakima rack and some pads with straps. Bought them both off ebay. The rack was new, so the savings were not huge. I use it all the time with absolutely no problems. The rack doesn't scratch if you put it on and take it off WITH CARE. I bought some felt from home depot to cover the metal on the hooks for some extra protection against scratching. I have a pic with with my 8'6" attached, I will upload when I get a chance.

1. The pics look great- when u buy the roof rack - do you need two straps, and two pads? What about the fairing - do you need the this for aerodynamic, less wind thing?
2. In my opinion film is still a little better than digital. Digital is good but fil still has richer color. Let me put it this way" Digital is like an eraser on a pencil" Film is for the artist.
You guys have been a great help

These guys have the best deal on the Yakima that I could find-

Everything included. Excellent hardware. The initial install is a little tedious, but after that it pops on&off easily, if you remember to mark the mounting locations.
Dunno that the fairing is necessary- the steep windshield angle on my xb seems to carry the wind over the rack, minimizing noise...

They velcro and tie down to the Yakima rack and then strap your board down. I don't use a fairing. The racks can make a little noise sometimes (howl) if your on the freeway, but its not really that loud.

I bought a fairing. When my rack is up there, it seriously howls. Especially on the interstate. So I went to the local bike shop and got a 50" fairing, which fits perfectly. The guy even put it together and installed it for me. It cuts out the wind howl 100%. Sometimes, I forget I have the bike up there, until I hit a low tree limb. A plus on the fairing: you can put stickers on there. I got some boat letters and I'll be applying my screen name tomorrow!
