Default Scan Gauge II issues

I have had a Scan Gauge II installed since Christmas.

The unit is installed in a 2005 Scion xB.

Occasionally, the VSC (vehicle stability control), ABS (anti-lock brake), and TRAC OFF (traction control) warning lights come on at start-up. The lights stay on until the vehicle is turned off. It only does it on start-up (not while driving around), and not at every start-up.

I ran the error code function -but it found no errors. If I unplug the unit, the warning lights never come on; as soon as I reconnect the Scan Gauge, the condition starts again.

I never had a problem before installing the 'Guage, an the vehicle doesn't seem to run any different with the warning lights on or off.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

happens every once in a while to me as well, with and w/o the scanguage plugged in..
just shut off, and re-start = goes away..
throws no codes, so isprobly a minor glitch in the system.. sure there is a dirty sensor somewhere..
if it were a real issue to worry aout, you would deffinately be throwing a code.. if a code was thrown, is more then likely the cam position sensor.. lotsa members have had problems with that sensor sticking and have had toyota replace..

Have , or should I say HAD the same problem with the Scan Guage II.

After months of trying to work with them I launched it out the car window.
They @ www.scanguage.com tech support could never figure it out.

They had me try doing the" more>more>more>pids> supported" trick

Still got the lights.

They said Oh ssend it back cause it is missing an important part , got it back , same deal ( postage + handling both ways twice) and it became a 65 mph projectile.

Re installed the SG I back in , backlighting went out, they told me send us $25.00 and shipping and we will look at it and charge you for what it actually costs , it is some where near the other.

Oh, and since the lights come on , it doesn't pass the test required by the state ( Emissions Test) cause it reads it as Not Ready For Testing until 50 or so start/run/shut down cycles. there machines read when the lights are tripped as an error.

The new ones are C*R*A*P, service is even worse, will never do biz with again.

i get these lights about 4-5x a year, usually more in the summer months... Bout the same time as my DS rear window starts to stick.. But i had these lights come on b4 i had a scan guage, so i can say in my case, it's not caused by the SG itself. Once the box wars up, i shut it down, and restart, and the lights dissapear.. If they came on after a restart or if they threw a code, i would be more worried...

And there was a few months time way back when, the SG people were sending out bad units, but they swore the issue was corrected, and had nothing to do with these lights coming on, the issue was more about the unit not connecting to the car's ecu via the obd2..
But i love mine, sorry you had the bad experience FrogBox!!!

I got that sometimes too but havent seen it for quite awhile. My only problem with it is its not reading right even though I program it like the instructions say.

For those of you with no problems , Do you have the Scan Guage II with X Guages and the up dated software or the older version ?

Seems like most here with problems have the updateed software and/or X-Guages.

Yea, mine is the new unit w/ X Gauge.
I have sent this same message to Linear Logic (aka Scan Gauge), but suprise, superse -no reply (yet).

The warning light condition does not seem to effect the drivability, I guess it's more embarrassing that anything.

I would much rather NOT have those lights come on UNTIL I NEEDED THEM TO!

i have the newer firmware with xguages, reads perfectly now that i set the correct % correction for my wheel & tire combo & verified with my gps's (changed my fuel tank size to 12 gal and now the mpg is dead on every time).
But i'll mention again, i had these lights come on before i ever got my SG, so i think its not related or at least my light issue isnt related. Sometimes (hasn't happened for over 2 years now) i would start up with a hot or cold engine, and get the "no traction" warning buzzer and light for about 2 seconds, once i started to roll forward the traction control seemed to kick on and the buzzer and light would go out. That started to happen around the same time as all my idiot lights coming on, well b4 i got the scanguage. I dont mind the lights, as long as they are not on all the time, and there are no codes being thrown...
