Default Scion Security Help!

So i bought an rs.3 scion security system from a guy on here. I just installed it today following the instructions on trdsparks.com. Everything seems to be working fine except when the arm is triggered the horn doesnt go off. Really without the horn there isnt much of a point. So please someone help me out. thank you.

the horn should honk when the alarm is triggered. it will not honk when you arm / disarm, which is pretty ____ty, even for a free alarm.. ( free to those of us that got rs3.s) i can't belive scion will sell you that crappy alarm for $800+ when you can get a top of the line auto start alarm for under $500.

does the horn honk when you hit the steering wheel? possibly a fuse was blown on the install, or a wire wasnt connected all the way or properly? bad ground? check everything again.. my rs3 honks when the alarm is triggered..

there has to be a loose wire / mis-connected wire or blown fuse, possibly an inline fuse with the alarm.. it may be that the horn is a negative trigger, and the horn wire was connected to the opposite wire by mistake?
at least for the time being, the horn not honking will not have an effect on the alarm arming, dis-arming. if anyone breaks in and drives it, the starter will cut off assuming that part of the alarm was wired up proppa like. but if you have a lot of spendy equipment in the box and someone wants to jack you, the lights flashing are not a deterrent at all..

Good Luck getting it fixed!!

I will recheck everything and see if that hleps anything. Heres what im thinking tho. I was thinking about this as I was looking up the directions. I have an 06 without radio controls. the rs3 has radio controls right? Could that make a difference?

You could look at wiring a momentary switch/relay to your door lock and unlock mechanism. Kind of a roundabout way to go about things, but should work.

there should be no issue due to the steering wheel controlls, it's the same security system scion has offered on the xa/xb since 2004..

I think the part numbers are different.

without 08586-52960

with 08586-52961

Must be some difference. MY guess is the horn connection/wiring is different at the steering wheel because of the audio controls.
