Scion xB with five wheels...
This is more to assuage my curiosity than than anything else.
I personally don't care for the frilly, spidery fancy look, or the Conestoga wagon wheel look with a whole bunch of spindly spokes. I also don't "feel" that look on my xB. It needs something more solid and stalwart.
So I've whipped up a quick image of an xB with five different wheel treatments:
(1) Superior 7-spoke alloy (TireRack, $65)
(2) Toyota 6 spoke alloy (08457-52810)
(3) Mini Cooper 7-hole alloy (stock wheel)
(4) Smith's 5 spoke alloy (British)
(5) Moon Disc wheel covers (on stock steelies)
Here's the pic:
Now, go back to the top of the page and choose which you like best.
(I know which I like best, but I'm curious about what others prefer in this limited range of choices only.)
Thanks!

anyway, I am of the same mind: I like the 2, 3 and 5 the best but cast vote for the moons just because I don't see moons here in town at all. Only on Ray's car so far.
Of 2 and 3, I'd have either one very happily. Note how strong the Toyota (2) design looks. Safety looking. Same goes for the Mini wheels (3). Much meat to them, and even if that's not really the case in a rim busting impact, -yes- the sturdy look of them compliments the utilitarian box look very well. They fit.

If one just wants reasonable priced wheels and tires with the best ride quality in normal use and most safety from road hazards, then 15's are OK...
The $10 6.70/15 Allstate bias-ply recaps I was running on 40 years ago on my '55 Chevy could take a pot hole better than most of the ultra-low profile plus-p tires people are putting on vehicles just for looks these days.
I drive my xB in the real world, and surviving the poorly maintained roads in suburbia is more important to me than looking ultra cool...function before fashion. :D

Heh.
Well, just for laughs I asked about the 6 spoke Toyota/Scion wheels while I was at my dealer today. They don't have any at the dealership, but they did show 45 available from the warehouse - how many did I want?
After finding the price ($740 installed!) I passed.
In the mean time, I have a set of 'new' stainless steel "Moon like" wheel covers on the way from an eBay sale for one heck of a lot less. (The genuine aluminum MoonEyes Moon Discs are almost as much for ONE as I paid for a set of 4...)
It will be interesting to see what shows up via FedEx...
