Question Searching high and low: Clutch install DIY

I found this one for TC: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=138067

but I'm looking for one done for the XB? Anyone know where I can find it? I've done clutch replacements on cars with cable transmissions, but never did it with one having a hydraulic clutch.

Need something I can study to make this a quick job; I can't be with out my car. Taking it to a shop is not an option (unemployed and full time student)~!

There's a little info in this thread:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...clutch+install

I haven't changed an xB clutch.

Last one I did was an A1 Jetta GLi, dropping the tranny out of the bottom of the engine compartment.

Good luck with it if you do it yourself,

cheers,

MD

It has to be me that does it. I'm right now taking two winter-term classes so when they are over next week I have a weekend to do the job. Other wise money that would be spent on labor will be going towards my test prep for my Nursing Degree (BSN) and classes.

If anything I'll try to do a photo of EVERYTHING so that someone later on will never have to go through this endless crappy search.

I just don't know anything about hydraulic clutches other than it uses fluid system. I'll read what I can, but other wise I'm ***** to the wall on this one...do or die.

Have you tried the Toyota OE shop repair manuals, they can be downloade from zip files free here Scion Document List

you need these basically

1) clutch componets (torque specs and blow up of parts)

2) clutch overhaul/replacement

3) transmission componets (torque specs and blow up of parts)
http://scionlife.org/Scion_Docs/2004...y/conponen.pdf

4) transmission overhaul/replacement

do you know anything about brakes?

the hydrolic clutch works a lot like your brakes work
this might be easier if you just ask the questions that you have..

I'll be happy to answer them...
send me an e-mail to MadMike550@aol.com put xb clucth in the subject line
I'll do what I can to help you

there is no Haynes available for our cars at all. Tomorrow I have my four hour final and an essay so this weekend I'll get to it. I have a camera and a photobucket account that has been around for 5+years, I'll see what I can put together.

I e-mailed haynes also and they sent me a reply stating that they have "no desire to make a manual for our car"
