Default Seat Belt Light Help.

I am a scion noob. I bought my new 06 scion xB a couple weeks ago and I enjoy the hell out of it, I like it because its a nice car stock it has alot of features and its easy on my wallet.

Now just to let you know im not some kid who is a ricer trying to disable ____ because hes dumb, I am an ASE, Ford, and Nissan certified technician, and I just want to disable the seatbelt light because it annoys the bejesus out of me. I dont believe in seatbelts because I have been in 4 accidents (3 of them not my fault) and never wore my seatbelt and came out never injured (everyone else who was wearing thier seatbelt came out with an injury). Im not gonna disable any wires because I dont wanna hurt my resistraint system in anyway.

So...I have searched numerous websites (including this one) and have had no results. Ive tried doing the whole Ign on, hold the odo reset button for 10 seconds, clicking the seat belt in, then out and ive tried doing the same thing with Park and reverse, and nothing. So if someone could guide me in the right direction on how to disable this thing, it would be most appreciated. Thanks

Here's a recent thread, there are some solutions there. I don't condone your actions. In fact, I think it's stupid, but I am not your mom.

Haven't switched the seats in a scion but I know on a Honda there is a plug under the seat, all you do in unhook that and it killed the light. Again that is for honda not sure if it is the same

yeah...Ive read that threat a million times, it seems the guy "Tomas" is the only one with some actual knowledge on that thread. And like I said I searched this site for those words he gave and nothing...So im looking for a bit more in depth answer.

and the honda thing, yeah I own a honda, and on the hatch I own its disconnected, but in the scion if you unplug the plug, the airbag light comes on, and I think im gonna need to have my airbags deploy if I ever need them someday (hopefully never)

I had a near-fatal accident on June 27, 1995 when a driver in a 1984 VW Vanagon failed to yield the right-of-way and plowed into me. The seatbelt saved my life, yet the airbags only managed to injure me by bruising 4 ribs, causing 2nd degree burns on the insides of my forearms, and leaving me deaf in my left ear for 3 weeks (due to the explosive charge used to "fire" the airbags in my car).

All things considered, if I did anything I'd stick with the seatbelt and disable the airbag!

Yeah, Ive learned all about supplimental restraint systems, air bags are no joke. Im also not a fan of them. Although they do save lives, but sometimes they can hurt you more than they should.

But does anyone know about this seatbelt light?!?!?

Ive read info on the prius, echo, matrix, tC, corolla, and every other vehicle how they disable the seatbelt light, but I cant get it to work on my xB

That, at least, doesn't mess with the other restraint features - the belt pyrotechnics and the 'air' bags will still fire in some frontals...

It also doesn't make any permanent changes in the federally mandated (and sometimes state mandated) restraint systems, and makes the car both easier and legal to re-sell.

Your friendly neighborhood Scion Dealer can order up one of the FREE belt extenders they make for the, uh, 'heftier folks.' (They WILL want to know how big this person is so they can order the right size extension, and will want their name for the paperwork to protect themselves from lawsuits...)

See http://tijil.org/scionlife/BO024-03.pdf (PDF) on my server for some info on the extenders.

-- This is not in any way a recommendation to disable any safety features. This is provided as information, only.
