Default stock xB foglight relay(alternative?)

well...stock oem foglight relay is the same relay as headlight relay. at 62bucks each..thats nuts. There must be an equivalant relay thats usable.

A Bosch relay will do the trick. terms 85 & 86 power coils and terms 87 to Fog lights and term 30 to fused power.

which color wires off the stock relay plug coincide with a generic 12volt 4 prong relay...

ie 85/86/87/30

if you are looking into the plug,
_

i only wired the top two slots into my relay. so it would look like this:
_ _____ 15 amp fuse _____ tab 30
_ _____ tab 87
| |

ground 85, and a switch with power from the cig lighter to 86. this way, i can have my fogs on whenever i want, and they shut off when the car is off.
you can wire 85/86 to the bottom two tabs, (i dont think it matters which is which), then you can run the switch in the stock wiring over there near the radio. then the light will only be able to go on with the headlights. you could always ground one of the switch wires, but then the fogs will stay on even if the car is off.

great help...thanks

btw...those bosch relays are only $2.80 each

i just wired everything up but i'm probably going to take your advice regarding the fogs on at-will because i'm not enjoying the headlights needing to be on for the fogs to work...or having highbeams with no foglights. kinda silly.

thank you everyone

instead of the headlights being on deal...wire them to the parking lights.

if the parking lights are on the fogs can be on...
