Back from the dead; just had the PS wiper on our 05 do this. The spline had only come out about 1 inch though so no damage to the paint. I replaced the blades on both cars (06 also) to be safe as they were both the same design.

i guess i am houng to have to look at this more often because i have never heard of that happening until about three minutes ago...
