Well don't forget to post your comments about the whole dealership buy from a shady agent at:

https://www.scionlife.com/dealers/california

I know that in the PNW these comments and ratings are looked at by region reps.

i didnt want to go through all 3 pages....but I get my car serviced at scion costa mesa and last time I went there, my car sat in front of me for 45min. after my sched. appointment. They didnt put a cap on it and I counted 4 cars that came in after me, got caps and the seats covered and everything and went off to the service bay while my xb still sat there in front of the service advisors. I was extreemly ____ed off. their service is kind of shatty. And the scion service in Huntington Beach off Beach Blvd....i had an 8am appt. to get my interior lights installed- they didn't even move the car to get worked on till 3:45pm. Overall its a cheap car with cheap service standards and quality. thats the one thing I miss about my mercedes, the service was amazing.

If I were you, I'd find the nearest credit union, join up and get the car re-financed ASAP. They usually don't charge a thing for the transfer, you'll get a MUCH lower APR and monthly payment (almost regardless of your credit), and you'll swipe whatever kickback/extra commission the dealership was getting from their financial institution away from them.
Check it out - it won't cost you a thing to look into it.

If they gave him 2 grand more for his trade why would the payment go up 20 bucks? That would add up to quite a bit over the length of the loan. His payment should have gone down.

I would guess it has to do with the interest based on his credit history...I have been in a similar situation before. It can be very frustrating.

nowadays you have to read everything they give you, when you're doing a big purchase like a car, it's a very important thing to do. If the finance officer is rushing you, walk away, it's not worth it (especially with scion's pure pricing) if he tells you to "trust him" joke it of, try saying something like, "I do, I just don't trust the lawyers who wrote this up" or something like that, keep it light. Also, most dealerships will try to get you to sign an arbitration agreement, if you can... don't do it. I used to work @ a lawyers office that represented big companies, and many of them told me that if you can get away with it, do not sign it, you are signing away your right to a trial, as well as to any class action lawsuits that are against the company. You are restricted to an arbitration and that is legally binding. usually the first step of any lawsuit is to try to resolve it through mediation, which is not legally binding. so, long story short, read what you sign, it will save you from headaches.

$20 extra a month doesn't sound like much but if you add it up it becomes a lot. For a typical 5 year loan, you would pay an extra 1200. About the same amount that they wanted you to pay with. I would of returned the car and find another dealership to play with. I had the same clause in my paperwork when I bought my car as well. No problems overall afterwards. Had more problems with the dealer treating me like a snot nose kid when I was trying to buy a STI.

Don't these dealerships realize that there are other dealerships and if they don't treat there customers good they will lose them? The original dealership i went to screwed me over and if it was not for the fact that i will work on things and have the know how to work on my car it could have coasted me. My cold air intake broke and rubbed on the air bag wire shorting out my air bag. My fault for putting on a after market aem. I could no figure why my cars air bag light would go on and off. I took it to the dealership and was told i could just ignore it. Yes ignore a safety feature on my car. They wanted to charge me $100, I argued and had to agree on $50. The guy found the problem and just slapped on some foam on my intake, leaving the exposed wire. I discovered this and explained to the service person. I got the car back and discovered he just raped tape around all the wires, not the individual wire. I (eventually weeks latter) got my money back. If that wire would have broke i would have had to replace the whole wire harness because of the sensitivity of the air bag system.

He prolly should have just returned the vehicle and went elsewhere to get a replacement. I would have.

The kind of car you drive should never dictate the kind of service you get...a customer is a customer...regardless. I think that you just had a twist of bad luck. You should have voiced your disappointment to the service manager and move on to his manager and so forth (don't stop till you get to the top). This should get you better service the next time you decide to go to them. This will also help them to improve thier customer service to all other customers as well.

if you talk to my boss, the "customer is always right saying" is wrong, its "the customer is always the customer, and only right >1% of the time"

I don't think I'd want to do business where you work. The customer is not always right. But your manager should step outside the box and see what he can do to make things better (it sounds like he needs to start with himself). That's why I stated that complaints, if valid, need to go all the way to the top just to make sure everyone knows who's slacking.

going to the top at my company does no good, company wide policy, if you bring your car back because theres a scratch on the passenger's side and all we did was put a grill in it, its not our fault or problem
