Default toyota bb, My new Mission!!!

o.k. you all know that i was unable to get a loan for the scion xb because of my credit!! well since this happened i have thought alot about what i need to do. first i am paying off my stupid truck, and my galant, and all my stupid bills. after that i will access my credit again, and if my credit report is good again ,after all the bills being payed off... i am going to finace a loan and import a JDM toyota BB!!!! i figured it would NOT cost as much as a nissan skyline becuase the engine is the same as the american XB(therefore not as much MONEY to make it legal to drive in the states)i know it will cost a few more to import it. i have already contacted an import distributor and awaiting a quote to have it shipped to the states, This may take a while for me to do , i figured it would take a year for me to pay off everything except the galant. so my mission is to get my credit back up to where it should be in exactly one year, and import a BB. It may take longer though

BUT I AM NOT GIVING UP!!! i love this vehicle and i will own one!!

best of luck to you.

How do you go about finding the process for importing a right hand drive car? I know there is a nightmarish amount of paperwork...and then the insurance is wierd because you need to have a VIN number assigned, and that can take forever.

Anyway, wish you well and hope you're able to score it!!! Jim Farley brought one of the Toyota right hand drive bB's to Exposed and it was awesome! (I've already said it a million times, but I really wanted to steal the wheels off it!) :D

How about you think realistically like I dunno get an American xB....its actually better then the bB because we get better tires from the dealership and also the Japan bB doesnt come with all the available options as standard....you really are wasting your time wanting to get a Japan bB

i just hope the price is good i could care less about the paperwork. like i said it should not cost much it make it legal to drive, the most it cost is the shipping fees. i still may end up with a SCION xb but this is my first choice.

Just by paying off your bills won't help your credit rating.

now that i think of it foreign cars do differ a lot from american spec cars. we have stricker laws and safety features don't we. as in like those 5mph bumpers, smog, lights, etc. it could get costly just to get it registered.

What do you really have to do to make a vehicle legal in the states? If you live in a state that doesn't require an emissions inspection, couldn't you probably just pass it off as a normal vehicle(even though RH Drive is not normal)?

Just thinking.

Man o man, so many loans, so little cash, why would u even think about taking out another loan when u know you can't pay this stuff off??? If you have such poor credit spend some time buildin it back up to get a good score instead of running the risk of gettin in even more debt. If YOU MUST buy a new Scion why waste your time importing one. US ones are just as kick ___ as the JDM ones. Why not just convert an american one to RHD?? That would be different. Although, once the car is released to the rest of the country the car isn't going to be that unique anymore anyway. Its just gonna be like every other "niche" car, i.e. PT Cruiser, VW New Beetle and the Mini Cooper.

you need to READ my post i said i am paying ALL my bills off early FIRST before i even start the process of buying this vehicle. and as far as importing and $$$$$ and everthing else, the scion xb and the toyota bb is the same Exact vehicle, same engine same body, same bumper, it should not cost much to make it legal to drive in the states!! at least this is what i have been led to believe, PLEASE tell me if there is a major difference, i am thinking emision wise that all i need is a cat for the exhaust, and maybe o2 sensorsor what not. but to have a 4wd BB right hand drive metalic orange(hotlave #2101,hahaha) would be awesome. and think about this- all the money it would take to paint, 4wd conversion, right hand drive conversion, plus buying the scion xb and all the JDM products i would have to buyto make it a BB, VERSUS buying a toyota bb straight from japan with all that stock and paying an extra 900 to have it shipped to the states, and what money it would cost to legalize it for the states- to me seems alot less$$$ than the later! if i am wrong tell me!

where are you pulling the numbers for all of this? just curious, I have a personal interest in importing JDM vehicles (no thanks to Opr8r and his damn K-Car Magazines, but those will have serious safety issues for importing)

as for just bringing a car straight over here, if there is a difference such as an 02 sensor, you have to have something to receive the data and process it, which if the JDM didn't come with that it's going to be next to impossible (or very $$$$) to just get that to function..

unfortunately with so many other wonderful things the devil is in the details.. for instance I'm not sure if the Hot Lava is made in Japan, as I thought it is a special color for the USDM...
