4wd .... that's the reason to import one

there is a difference in the bumper sizes though ... they had to make them bigger to get DOT approvial

yes it will be 18,700 to import it but i think it is worth the extra money for the 4wd right hand drive, think about it! for only 4,000 more you have this in the states , still don't know how much it will cost to legalize it to drive in the states, but if you all could give me any more ideas on what will be changed or cost money to do, tell me so i know what i am getting into and how much! i already know about the bumpers that is cheap, and accually the whole thing should not be that much becausei can get all the american parts needed, it is the same vehicle with the same engine(i am beeting this into the ground) as the scion, should just be minor things like the bumpers and the catalitic coverter, anything else tell me!

The RS1 is color coded 4R8, that is the same color code that has been available in JPN for a while, it was a color that wasnt going to be USDM but they decided to for a limited production of that color.

I checked shipping prices from Cali to Jersey about 2 months ago and the cheapest price I found was around $900. Is that a real number you got qouted for shipping or are you guessing?

the 900.00 above that kwicslvr is talking about is the shipping from japan to the states(i think cali,) i would have to pic it up there and ship it to where ever i live at the time them spend some real time regestering it.

Yup, that was the price listed on one of the import sites from above to ship it here. I completely agree though for that cost to have a 4WD one would be aewsome. The 2WD one from the site was only $200 less.

Yeah either pick up a 4WD bB or the Open Deck bB, it's not even worth it if you get anything else because all those parts you gan just import.

As a matter of fact I know of someone that imported the 4wd bB already but it was in an pretty bad front end accident. Had the rear drive train and everything.

FYI the 4WD exhausts exits the Left side of the bumper versus the regular 2wd bB's and xB's

It also has mirrors on both sides of the Sunshade visors and power folding side mirrors. Also of course the front bench seat. The column shifter. The front dome light.
A friggin arm rest.

Man now that I think about it that would definitely be a nice import porject.

Good luck to ya bro

PLUS taxes, and duties. Good luck getting it DOT approved. That'll cost another grand or too.

So you have three options:

1. Keep it here under a year, after the year register it in Canada, then bring it back. Do that every year

2. Pay tons of cash for a authentic bB. When you might be able to find a front clip from a distributer

3. Wait 20 years and you can bring it over no penalties. All they do is wash the undercarriage to get the "JDM" soils off.

it will cost a lot more then what people have posted. there is tons of paper work and emissions laws here in the states. good luck doing it, but it will be about 2000-6000 to the import and be able to register to drive it. not worth it in my book.

thank you for the posts! i appreciate the remarks and the watching my back parts, thank you all.

i am going to PM our very own japanese bb owner on this site( n bb) and find out the difference in the engine and exhaust, because i still do NOT think that there is much difference in the set up of the 1.5L japanese engine and the 1.5L american engine and i really do no think it will cost 6,000.00 to make it legal to drive in the usa. maybe 2,000.00 maybe less maybe more who knows? but i will find out.

Sounds good, it would be nice to see one rolling around. As far as costs to import, its the customs fees that are pricely. I know the BB would have to pass emissions tests and all. You may be able to contact Motorex to find out some info, since they import the Skyline.

Default Don't be my buddy... see below for details

or you could always buy one thats been wrecked and make a project restoration car out of it...
My buddy did that to a porsche, it took a while but he got it exactly how he wanted it... then sold it for way too cheap.

hard to tell from the pics, but i think this might be a jdm bB. The rear spare resembles J-spec spares.

None of you know what you're talking about unless you've done it.

I've bought 4 cars from batfa and had them shipped over for friends and customers. Becoming DOT legal doesn't require much at all.

If you want to know anything, ask.

Importing and making it legal wouldn't be worth it to me, but...to each it's own.

For help with credit, try www.clarkhoward.com and www.ihatefinacialplanning.com. Also, try to close newer accounts rather than older established accounts. Check your credit report every other month and dispute inaccuracies. Don't apply for any more credit. A car note is probably not a good idea for another year. Depending on your credit, you may need to wait longer than that. I hope the sites help.

Good luck to you!
