Shipping - $900.
To legalize - $400. (Adjusted Headlights, Put in THREE cats!, Checked all fluids to make sure they meet DOT requirements)
Insurance - Had to get collector car insurance. They charge you insurance based on overall value and rarity of the vehicle.

So, about $5,900 for a legal R33 RHD Skyline plus Insurance.

And if you wanted to finance this car, you would HAVE to get a loan before buying it. So, get the loan from a credit union, wire transfer the $5,000 (for example), and see the car in 4-6 weeks at the port of choice, mine being Savannah.

OK, importing a Skyline I can understand.... but there is little benifit in importing a bB... the Chassis has been crash tested and is approved for US... the JDM engine offers little power... and the JDM offers a 4WD.... its not like your going off raoding in a bB.... personally it sounds like alot of BS for little benifit, and you will probably pay more and still need a loan!!

Good luck cleaning your credit and bills though.... always a good start.

i had thought about importing a hotlava bb awd but they only offer them in auto and with the awd and 108hp, the bb would be like maybe 85hp with awd. not what i'm looking for not to mention the decrease in milage. import a used skyline for less. i saw a few newer models for like $15k that you can import. that would be worth it imo.

In terms of emissions, Japanese engines lack an EGR port, the US SPEC cars have EGR ports. The EGR port is in the head, so you need a USDM 1NZFE head. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Customs will be all over the car when the container is opened, and right then and there the car must pass a ____ load of tests. I know a guy who has a RHD car, its a _____. I want a RHD Vitz Turbo, but its prolly not gonna happen. Your'e better off getting a xB and converting it to JDM spec and keep it LHD. Ive seen Lefts hands that kick ___ compared to RHD JDM cars.

Trying to offer some advice here but paying your bills off won't make your credit rating better. Credit card companies and banks loan you money to make money from you. If you pay your credit cards off early, or make double payments or anything like that they don't benefit, therefore you don't benefit to the max that you can.

The best way to establish credit is to charge something small, pay the minimum each month then it's paid for in like 2 months. You made each payment, the bank gets there money and a little extra and you don't get slammed with high interest rates over a long period of time. For example, I have 2.9% interest rate on my Jeep. In 3 years, for the amount I financed I only will pay under $600 total in interest. The key to good credit is not to finance a lot, only finance what you have to, get a low interest rate and pay it off as scheduled. This builds a longevity of good credit and good credit ratings.

HTH......check with a bank and ask them whether or not you will get better credit paying it off early, or making your normal payments on time. You will be surprised to hear the answer. Again, banks/credit card companies loan you money to make money on your interest.

Good luck with the Bb...would be cool to sport a RH Drive box.

Actually, his problem is, probably, a debt-to-income problem.

He has more debt then he should for the money he's making (I'm just guessing from the number of bills he listed).

In that case, paying them down, and fast, will help a lot.

There are 2 ways to mess your credit up.

1) Pay late (duh)
2) Have your cards/loans almost maxed out.

If you have a card that has a $5000 limit and you have $4950 charged on it, it looks bad and your beacon score will go down. If you pay that same card (or car loan, home loan, whatever) down to below 50% of the max (in this case, less then $2500) your score will go back up.

Also, the more cards you have outstanding the harder it is to keep your beacon score up. Pay off/close all but one, maybe two, credit cards. Keep the available limits down and keep the balances down too.

Long term items like car/home loans look best, let those ride for at least 2 or 3 years. But you can pay them off early without much problem.

Keep your debt to income ratio well below 50%. If you make $2000 a month you want less then $750 in bills. The closer you get to $1000 the harder it gets to get a loan.

But, if you pay off and close all your credit cards, but still have car loans, your beacon score will go up, you will have an easier time getting a loan too.

If you have a low credit score because of late payments, get rid of the damn cards as fast as you can and close the accounts. But keep car/home loans for the full term and always pay 5+ days early. With this it will take about a year, maybe 18 months, to really move your beacon score, but you've lowered your ratios, your outstanding debt is lower and you are proving you can make steady payments over time.

Default Credit broken down

As a real estate agent and a loan officer, I could tell you if your looking to improve your credit score, here is the easiest things to do.

-Pay on time.

-Don't have too many lines of credit open. But do have some established.
Basically lenders want to see 2 years of stability.

-Don't inquire into your credit too often, once a year is fine. But remember when you apply for a credit line, the company will run your credit. If your test driving cars, to checking home loan rates, protect your social security number, don't give it out readily unless your ready and really interested.

-If your trying to get a start and establish credit, one of the best places is your local college campus, they often have credit card companies offering low student rates.

And lastly, just because you have problem credit, or bad credit history, doesn't mean that you can't get a loan, it just means you might not like the rate...
