Default Toyota Financing Problem

I received delivery of my xB on Feb. 8 and they told me that my payments start on March 23. It was probably around Feb. 23 or 24 that I got a call from the local finance manager saying that I needed to bring in proof of income, so I went in the next Monday with 2 Leave and Earnings Statements which they photocopied (I followed him to the copy machine). They told me that they have everything they needed and told me again to expect my first bill around March 23. That date came and went and on March 29, I got a call from the finance guy again saying that I need to come in and give proof of income and 4 references. I asked him what happened to the last 2 photocopied L&E Statements and he told me that they change a lot of hands in the process of getting filed with Toyota and they probably misplaced them. I went in again with my L&E Statements and references and watched him photocopy them again. I asked him when I should be expecting my bill and what they would do if I get hit with a late charge and he said that the paperwork will take a couple of weeks to process and that they will compensate me for any late charges. Anyway, it's been over a month since then and still no bill. What should I do?

Just go to http://www.toyotafinancial.com and get set up there. Much easier to pay online anyway, No stamps to lick.

Call TFS directly and let them know what's going on because they WILL hit you with a late payment. The same thing happened to me--there was a "proof of income" problem (I'm a graduate student) and the dealership couldn't figure out how to submit the paperwork.

I feel you.

I took delivery of my xB on 12/11, only to be asked to come in with additional information. I didn't actually "own" my xB until 12/31 though, which did push back the date of the first payment. This may also push back your date of payment too.

Either way, congrats on the xB...Polar White rules. The call to TFS should clear some things up for you.

Wow, my dealer's financing department is really inept...I called Toyota Financial Services and they don't even have me in the system.

I meant to add in my previous post...

The problem is probably with the dealer, not TFS. It's pretty cut and dry (by the book) with TFS, the dealer usually is the broken cog in the machinery.

I was sweating a little too, but it worked out for me. It'll be cool.

Once you get it straightened out, this is the place to go. I pay once a month on-line. I think I'll set up auto payments soon. Easy to use website.

I use Toyotafinacial.com to make automatic payments also but, it started out really ugly because they transposed one number wrong on my SS# and when I set the online account up they told me to do it by using the "wrong" SS# which I did. Then Toyota notifys me that I have made NO payments for two months. After many phone calls and letters they fianlly admitted that they deleted my automatic online payments and didn't notify me when they changed that one number in my SS#.

Ok, so I finally got a hold of the dealership's financing guy and he says it's taken so long because they financed me at a rate lower than what I qualified for through TFS and that the dealership had to eat the difference. I don't know if he's just blowing smoke up my @$$ but he sounded pretty ____ed off so I'm inclined to think he's telling the truth.

The dealer screwed up on mine and let me finance 125% of my xB with no down payment.(I owed about $3200 on a S-10 traid in).
Then about 2 weeks later I get a letter from Toyota that said they cant accept the credit terms.TOO LATE. I let the dealer deal with it I have a contract.

Dammit! I had to go in to the dealership for the third damn time yesterday to provide my references!! I don't feel like I'm a first time car buyer...it feels like they're first time car sellers.

Maybe they'll forget and you'll get a free car...maybe.

Just hold on to your contract, toyota and my lender were arguing over the rate that they signed me up for...guess who won.

Well, good news...sorta. Toyota Financial sent me my first bill so I am in their system. The bad news...I paid my first month's portion when I went into the dealership last week and now I have to pay 2 months worth on my bill due in another week. DOH! That's $1000 in car payments in 3 weeks!
