Found this on the Netz.jp site. It is listed under the Vitz 3D section as shockwave item so I couldn't translate automatically. Any idea what these buttons control? If they're audio controls, could it be adapted to the xA?

Some of the letters are too small, and for whatever reason, my IE doesn't want to open that site today, but reading, looks simply like it says the left side are audio switches (probably vol up/down, channel up/down). The bottom simply says silver accent (instead of pure black wheel). Right side doesn't say anything directly, but it's probably the mode switch (cd/fm/am/etc) - although, since it's a Japanese model, it could also be a stick to control the GPS navi map.
Nothing out of the ordinary here.

confirmed. standard wheel mounted controls for audio + GPS navi unit on the steering wheel of the Vitz models that have the built-in Toyota GPS map unit.
