bB is the Japanese-spec xB. When scion started they took the bB and put the steering wheel on the left and called it the xB. They did the same with the xA but i dont remeber what the Japanese model is called. If your ever in Japan you'll see the xB all over the place just as a Toyota bB, its very popular over there.

one of the big reasons people badge as bB is because the original Japanese badging flows with the car 100x better than the scion badging.

Yeah, the bB badge looks better than the xB pig snout on the grill.

As to the meaning of "bB" I've heard two 'theories.'

The one above that it means 'black Box," and another.

In Japan the van is called a "one box" design, a station wagon or hatchback is a "two box" design, and a standard sedan is a "three box" design.

Looking at the profile of those vehicles it is fairly easy to see what they mean.

A van is one big box, a wagon or hatchback has a small box for the engine attached to the larger box, and a sedan has a small box at each end of the large box.
The bB is a classic two box design: small box attached to a large box, or boxBOX, or bB.

Makes more sense, expecially if one looks at the official government crash test or other spec data for the bB and other similar vehicles. They are identified as "two box" styles in all the official publications.

Enjoy!

Tomas

I think the scion logo looks better than the bB logo.
The bB logo looks like letters made of bones.
I will never put a bB logo on my box, IMO its ugly. If I ever do anything, I will just de-badge my box, but I like the scion logos on there for now.

I think alot of people like the bB's logo just cuz its JDM.

Bring on the flamin'! but thats JMO.
I guess that 'ol saying is true. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or something like that right? I cant remember

Back to the subject... I have no clue what bB really means, I think what you guys said above about it sounds right.

maybe it stand for "Butt-ugly Badge" haha! (j/k please no one take offense)

I was looking for "black box" in the news archives and didn't come across it, but I did find out the target audience for the bB was young single men.

Well, alot of cars in Japan have model specific logos. e.g. Highlander=Kleuger. so there is a "K" where there would normally be a toyota logo on the grill.

I don't care what anyone else thinks, I rock my bB badges all day everyday. Actually the xB badge doesn't belong on the xB. The bB badge is square like the bB so hence the design. And the reason I have bB emblems is because they look cool, they're JDM and cuz I can't have a RHD bB

My box doesn't have either bB or xB badges (ain't shaved, either).

Front's a dragon, rear's an ( X ).

I get to be different, not just 'different like everyone else'... :D

Tell that to the ones in Japan that rock Scion emblems. We eun them cuz they are different and cool knowing this is what was intended to be on these from the start. The xB thing is a mere afterthought.
