Default What the Heck Size Are xB License Plate Bolts?!?

OK...I was one of the lucky ones who got the Scionlife valuepack with the license plate frame (great deal!). But what size bolts do you use?
I've bought three different plate frames, and the only one with the right sized bolts was the brushed aluminum "Scion" one,
which later fell apart, and the bolts rusted. I'm still using those unsightly bolts, because the ones I buy at auto supply stores don't fit!

What size should I be looking for?

You want the 10mm bolts for the license plate. In fact, most of the stuff on Scions are 10mm.

I bought some at Autozone when my plates finally came in.

I will definitely try the 10mm bolts; I'm not sure what size I tried before, but it was frustrating as hell! Thanks!

Just FYI, that's actually an M6(mm) hex head. 10mm is the size of head and the wrench you'd use to install it/remove it. (Screws and bolts are actually described by their thread size.)

Thanks for the size tip.

A related question: my '05 xB came from the dealer with plastic screws holding on the back plate (no front plate). I just moved from PA to TX, thus requiring new plates, but I can't for the life of me get these plastic screws off -- they just start stripping.

Anyone here have any suggestions on how to get these off? (I won't be reusing them; I got some regular M6 screws to replace them and to attach the front plate TX requires.)

Drill a small hole in them, and use a reverse threaded bit to take them out.

You can dremel a slot in them and try a flat head screwdriver.
