the rims can be JDM...

edit: actually, IMO, anything that is made in Japan and brought to other counties is JDM, including our xBs because its 100% made in Japan...

Nah, no diss Scott. My xB is more along the lines of "spo-com". Some race, some ViP, with a mix of JDM styling.

Cassidy has the awesome Shine Street kit. Peter had the first one IIRC.

I have staggered fitment, but not alot of noticable lip though.

I've been eyeing some of the AME staggered offset wheels though. Pricey, but nice. I really like what I have, and prolly won't change anything major, like wheels or camber, any time soon.

I think there's a distinct difference from jdm-STYLE and jdm-PARTS. Squirrel, Opr8r etc are doing well on the jdm-STYLE.

I have a bunch of true PITA to get jdm/oem-PARTS, but I would not think of my car as being at all in the STYLE of jdm. No one who looks at my car would think for a second "hey! THAT doesn't belong on a US-spec car!" -- unless of course you're some xB/bB savant and that's just your thing.

Then of course, there is the "JDM"=rice crowd, where every APC and NOPI part made for their make/model is glued to the thing. Earthing Kits made with Stinger power wires... is not JDM....

VIP-style... I think others have explained that far better than I could already, and it's just not a style I can define myself anyway "I know it when I see it".

Ehh, I'd say that just has wide japanese wheels and stoplight tails. The vinyls and scissor doors sort of kill any VIPness to it.

VIP is basically making your car look like a german luxury car. JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market, which just means something's a japanese part for the bB.

Like someone said, I know it when I see it.

VIP comes from the Japanese term for cars like limos and big luxury sedans, "VIP sha" or "VIP kaa". Good examples of VIP cars are the Nissan Cima, Cedric, and Gloria, and the Toyota Celsior and Century. Style-wise, it means taking these kinds of cars and dropping them LOW, putting on a fairly clean, but sports-like body kit, big rims, chrome accessories, lighting, etc. This describes a lot of cars these days, but once you see VIP in person, it's pretty easily recognized. Some examples:

if you are refering to the cars above that is a nissan president-limo version of q45 like the bmw 750 IL is the limo(longer) version of the regular 7 series, next is a toyota celsior japan version of our lexus ls430 and the last is a nissan gloria/cedric. not trying to be a dick just pointing it out. i love VIPcars. at the last minute i bought the xb instead of a y33 q45/cima damn v8's. in japan they come w/ a turbo v6.

my quote from another thread"in the end it's all about style. people say jdm this and jdm that, but some jdm cars are just as ricey or worse then some u.s. ricers(you ever seen a 5 foot exhaust shaped like a star at any car shows here?) even VIPcar style was so ricey before it developed and changed in to a much cleaner style. i like the jdm clean race inspired or modern clean VIPcar style, the best."

VIPcar is all about luxury and almost opposite of race tuning. usually cars that are 4door sedans. sc300/400/soarer's are not usually considered VIP. cars that are slammed w/ big deep dish or wide wheels but are not race inspired. example a 240sx/silvia slammed w/ big wheels are not vip. they have a similar style but not quite the same. if you took a silvia and threw leather, tv's, dvd, cutains, courtesy lights, marble/wood tables and trim etc., etc, and put big luxury style rims and more of a clean instead of aggresive kit then it would lean more towards VIP tuning but not really a true vip car.

The last paragraph of fsr20det's response essentially sums it up.

Just to add, you'd never find unpainted carbon fiber anywhere on a VIP car.

I wish I could run more camber in my xB, but its a daily. I'll have to wait and see on the xA when I get it. I have all of the iSt badging for it.

to me..
jdm = anything thats like a japanese part.
like if u got "jdm taillights" most likely u got
japanese original lights(what a stock car came with in japan).
if u got a JDM floor mat, u got what a stock car in japan came with.

people overuse the term JDM and start calling painted black parts jdm.. they start calling gold and gunmetal stuff jdm as well.

jdm just means japanese domestic market.

as for vip, vip is usually a 4door luxury sedan, almost tuned
like "DUB" of america, except in japan, super wide and low offset wheels are used. they get it flush while rolling it it lower than possible. they get all luxury items.

heres my lame attempt at more of a "vip" styling of a car.

its not a luxury car, it will never be one, its jsut a grocery
getter and i just try to go as low as possible
and have my wheels flush and cambered(so i can come out more)

A lot of that stuff is VIP. Some of it is just silly. You'll know the difference.
