from what i've seen 20 % matches stock damn near the same to me. but since i'm in cali and dislike getting pulled over I would never put ANY tint on my front windows. I remember hearing from windowtint months back. and I wasnt even paying attention to what anyone wanted ligher than stock or not I just posted what i was told and had seen. Sorry for any confusion that may have come from any posts I had made.

I had done to my xB, front windows to match the rear, at one time. Got pulled into a DUI checkpoint. I was fine, but they looked at my tint in the front twice. Told me that it was 13% tint in the front; illegal, but not enough for 'him' as he put it.

So I went back to my tint guy, who replaced it with 30% tint (28% is legal here in Florida). To tell the truth, the UV protection is the same, and frankly, it looks better with the front windows this way. Not as dark as the rear was.

Now, I have to worry going through GA and VA this summer; they have **** laws about tint, and CAN give you a ticket, even if you live out of state, if you are darker then they allow for, no matter I live in FL.

Trust me, I looked this up on the net. Stupid laws, I say, make the tint law the same everywhere, or you can't get a ticket out of state, since that is just stupid, IMHO.

I mean, can I get a ticket for not having a FRONT plate, (even thought that is legit in FL), but not in VA? NO. So how can I get a ticket for darker tint in VA?????

um... abt the tint i live in VA and the law is tint hase to be 50% in the front and 35% in the back.... but on my old car a ford escort i had 35% in front and 15% in rear and never got questioned abt it..... so i don't know y u have truble with that.... but the plate thing u can get a ticket for so i just say put a front plate on when u go north and u should be fine.... otherwise if u do get pulled over the only thing i can say is pretend u don't know why he pulled u over -->

Naw, you can't get a ticket for not having a front plate. Unless your HOME state requires it, which Florida don't.

And besides, with only one plate issued by the state of Florida, no way to 'slap a plate on' from here. Also, no screws in the front.

I've driven FL plates in VA before, with other cars, and not a problem; it's the tint that you have to worry about.

Used to live in VA as well. Know how the state is, when it comes to being **** about things.

20% for my 2 front windows matches the rear windows pretty damn close in my book.

What I THINK?? What I THINK is what my laser based light transmission meter says. I THINK I'll take the word of that expensive ___ meter over what someone's eye's incorrectly percieve to be darker or lighter. I've had the misfortune to be around the stuff for almost 20 years now and not even I can accurately guess the darkness on site every time - but 2 seconds with the meter solves that. The meter never lies and the meter says anywhere from 19.5-21%. Without fail so far on the few dozen xb's that have rolled through the shop.

(and yes, the meter is calibrated. last I checked - yesterday - it was within 0.5% of the control glass's rated darkness. .5% +/- = dead on).

So, hotbox was right. He didn't need ME to be right, the topics been covered so many times, how could he NOT know it by now.

ok , now how do you add a front plate when your state only issues one plate..?? the plate the the tint are two different matters. and in most states if you have a doctors note for your tint you will be fine.. no tickets. just make sure it is notarized.
