Ok, so I've been wondering why I can't get my auto xB past 101mph.......not that I ever need to go faster than that.......or should ever go that fast to begin with.........but I like to know what my car can do, and 101mph just wasn't cuttin it.

Well, I've found out that if I disengage the overdrive and leave the car in 3rd gear I can go at least 107mph. My car was still accelerating....but I saw a blip on my radar detector and decided not to toy with the possible disaster of getting a 100+ mph ticket.

So anyway, my car was doing 107 mph in 3rd gear and still hadn't hit the rev limiter.

Anyone else try to see where their auto tops out in 3rd gear?

My Box shifts into O/D abuot 200rpm before the limiter hits, and that's at a smidge over 100mph at WOT... I do have some heavy ___ subs in the back though, so that's a contributing factor.

 

I've got some pretty heavy subs too.....I'm sure they're slowing me down.

Please tell me you have an AT... because 103 is NOT possible in a 5spd..

I've only tapped out at close to 85mph in my 3rd gear on my BSP 5spd.

And believe it or not, I finally tapped out the xb in top gear!

and I did it on my move back here to GA from good ol' CA. I was coming through the NM side of Arizona, about 20miles away from the NM border, I had just pulled out of the 'stacked boulders' rest stop on I-20, and It was somewhat down hill for close to about 4miles. Well, I had pulled out about 10minutes after my parents had left the rest stop in the RV, and I told them not to wait for me while I took a ____, and I came out, and sure ____! they were gone! haha. So I jumped into my car, and took off like a bat outta hell on the onramp back onto the interstate. about a minute later, without paying NO attention whatsoever to my speed, I was just hauling *****, I looked down at my speedometer, and about that time, it started to sputter, I was like, :? wtf?? and then I saw I was about a 1/4" past the 120mph mark! Come to find out it was my rev limiter tapping out in 5th gear... You know, I NEVER thought it was possible to roll out the speedo on an xB, but it actually happened.

I actually took a pic of my speedo when it was coming back down, and just barely went back over the 120 mark. I have it on a disposeable camera still, when I have that camera developed, I will ask for a CD for that one, and I will post it IMMEADIATELY.

But, back to the topic at hand, In my car, I my rev limiter taps at around 6600rpm in 3rd gear, as it does in all gears, and I would be doing around 82-85mph when it taps.

I hit 110 in my 5 spd xB, only mod is a axle back and lowered with s-techs.

 

yea, the fastest I've gone on a flat road, was 115mph.

BTW, I MEANT 103 is NOT possible in a 5spd in 3rd gear.. my bad on that...lol.. OBVIOUSLY 103 is not the top speed in most xb's...

I'm running AEM cai, TRD axleback, JUN flywheel, TRD clutch, denso plugs, my own ground wires(weren't on at the time of both of these speed runs), DC header, Race catalytic conv, hotckis swaybars, cusco frame brace, C-one II brace, hotckis front strut bar, 18x9" wheels w/ Nitto 555 225/35/18's, CC canards, CC center splitter, and OEM rear spoiler, OH YEA, and a GOB of stickers... :twisted:

I'm thinking I tapped out around 125-130, because I was going down hill for close to 4-5miles, and perhaps maybe the canards and the splitter helped the wind carve more around my car perhaps.. I dunno... :oops: but I got proof though :D

but regularly, I can hit 110-115 depending on wind conditions..

Yeah, in 3rd gear, I top out at 77mpg. . . but I got a 5spd xA. I've been above 110, but I stopped lookin at the speedo and had to concentrate on the road (for obvious reasons). Dunno how much faster than 110 I went.

haha, of course!

But, then again, it SOUNDS tight, but doesn't look too hot at the moment..

I'll post some pics in this thread in about a week once I get a new camera usb cable.. (took a ____ on me so convieniently )

Just wait until I get more carbon fiber goodies, such as my hood, hatch, rear CF fab. spoiler, new black grille craft lower grills, goldlines, and my recaro's THEN, it will look nice...lol
