why bB?

why bB?
Just wondering why there is such a desire for the bB? (I know nothing about it.) It seems that a lot of people want to turn their xB into a bB. How come?
#2
It is the principal of what you can't get over here and also being different. Some of us (me included) like things out of japan just like the japanese like american things and yada, yada. It looks like there are two types of setups when doing jdm 1. VIP 2. Standard JDM conversion (i.e. Finding parts from japan but not trying the VIP look).
Hope that sorta helps

It's just plain stupid to "rebadge" a car, when it even isn't the REAL THING...
#4
its more like building a replica not really like rebadging since the Bb isnt avialable in the usa more like trying to make a nissan skyline or somthing to that effect
#5
The stock Scion logo in the grill is hideous looking (IMHO). When I removed it, there was a nice square hole in it that the Bb emblem fits in perfectly.
#6
I removed the rear badges and put a bB stock front emblem cause it looked way better than my stock emblem nothing about the "bB look" or anything like that.

uh the bB and xB are almost 100% identical they are the same exact car ...very small variations just one is USA one is Japan...so this isnt people who want to be uber cool labeling a car as an RS or some crap like that...
well...at least most of us do not lol
I have a small fetish for Japanese things, fiance studies Japanese language, ive got Japanese tattoos, artwork, I lived in Japan when I was a baby...dad loves the culture as well...so for me thats really all it is. A fancy!
It is a hobby, like hunting or model building whatever..at least for me it is. Some people think a car/truck is just that nothing more (like my fiance lol) but to some people it is a passion...a hobby that is fun to tinker with and do different things, add things, take things away...etc...

Agreed, I did my bB badges b/c the Scion front AND rear emblems are ugly IMHO.
The oval Scion emblems just don't "fit" the vehicle, afterall what fits a box more than square bB emblems????

There are MULTIPLE types of tuning with JDM parts that are not "standard". Just to name a few JDM styles are: Sport, Euro, American, VIP, and Luxury.
People do bB because I guess they feel compelled to copy it from Japan. (that and it fits the grille better). I personally hate the rebadging but 90% of people on this forum disagree with me. Its all personal taste, and thats what the xB is all about. I just dont see changing it to something its not. Its not a bB. No column shifter. No bench. No RHD. No bB. Thats my outlook.
So that is why I suppose. Pretty much ask anyone on this forum and you'll be safe to assume they probably got a badge. Now commence flaming against me for all you bB people that are in love with it...

The original emblem is huge and way out of proportion. I did not want my car to be a billboard for Scion.

as a quick comparison for those who say an xB and a bB are so wildly different. For starters the TRUE differences are so minor, there are irrelevant. Different transmissions? SO?? Bench seats instead of buckets?? AND? etc... in the normal car world (where most on this site don't live...) these differences would simply be package and trim level variations. Nothing more. An xB is nothing more than a bB spec'd to US standards (RHD etc). Ok - the "example" - the Chevy Cavalier... it is sold in Japan. As a TOYOTA - badged Toyota and everything - the Chevy version and Toyota version were made on the SAME assembly line! whatever small spec differences there are were compensated for on that line. When they were all done... some got Toyota badges... some got bow-ties. Ya know what... EVERYONE OF THEM IS STILL A CRAPPY CHEVY CAVALIER! For some reason I just know there are goofy japanese car geeks having these stupid arguements about whether or not their Toyota Cavalier is really a Chevy or not and people showing off their 'imported' bow-tie badges, center caps, grills etc. -- and of course the other group telling them how no matter what they do, it's a totally different car than the American version (which they will also laughably argue is such a better version too!)

I may not even have ANy badges on the back, I also like to debadge because the car is mine...I know what it is...I dont need a Scion xB sticker on the back any longer.
I may just keep the bB tag on the front...or I may end up having it all clean with no badges or logos...not sure yet.
And I see nothing wrong with people who disagree with it, it's all good to me and I respect those opinions.
My old corolla I just removed all of the rear stickers, emblems.
There are practical reasons for it as well, others have mentioned this but when waxing my car on the back having things removed it is smooth and I do not get snags while waxing...yeah that may seem very minor and petty to some but it annoys the hell out of me. We all have our little annoying things we just have to fix!
